Crazy slanted Rad
I got some crazy slant goin on trying to make the 92+ Civic rad fit under my hood... I figure I could hack the frame that it sits on the lower it... damn that engine bay is tight. Gonna be shitty fitting a turbo in there. Any suggestions or creative methods of making this fit? ???

Re: Crazy slanted Rad
im useing a 94 teg rad in my ef hatch, sits on the traction bar inbetween part of the support and tranny mount, had to bang the hood braceing in a bit over the rad cap and it fit perfectly.. you may wanna stay with a half size though, if so good luck and lemme know what ya end up doing, i may switch back

Re: Crazy slanted Rad
I made some mounts off the cross member and my radiator seems to fit lower and more towards the passenger side. Its a smaller OEM style though.

Re: Crazy slanted Rad
Use a neon half rad, a geo metro or swift rad. Im using a metro rad and fan and it works great.

Re: Crazy slanted Rad
I need to find a rad that's shorter than the stock 92-95 EX/Si rads. The EX rad I have now fits in nicely with my homemade front crossmember, but has to sit a little more centered cause I made my crossmember sit a hair too high. Not to thread jack, but does anyone know of a rad that might be shorter than the ex piece so I can sit it forward more? Thinking of trying to find one to fit right behind the bumper cover and under that metal crossbrace on top that holds the hood latch.

Re: Crazy slanted Rad
a lot of the local EF turbo's are rockin the EG rad with a JDM tilt just like that, seems to work fine. 1 using a log, 2 using a SSAC style/reverse ramhorn style, none have a/c or p/s, and the biggest turbo is a t25 on a B16, then a 14b on a B16/17 head, then a KKK on a built D16 :6

Re: Crazy slanted Rad
I'm running this manifold:
http://img453.imageshack.us/img453/7235/pict00068nf.jpg with a T3/T4. I'll be dumping power steering if it doesnt fit. AC is already gone. The thing I'm really worried about now is how the hell I'm gonna fit a downpipe. Perhaps I'll run without one LOL. Thanks 90DX for the link, I was searching for that! |
Re: Crazy slanted Rad
Ive done multiple kits on EF's and have come to the conlusion that a traction bar setup is mandatory as it fixes all the headaches you get trying to boost 88-91's.

Re: Crazy slanted Rad
I did a crazy angle and moved my battery into the trunk so i could move the rad over some more. I also got a thicker rad coming from lsd and i know its going to fit with a slim fan.

i had problems getting my eg in my crx but the way i did mine is not for the weak at heart i used a sawzall and notched my core support out a little to get it low enough for hood clearance and it may have a little lean but not much it looks very factory.all about fuction instead form but didnt want it to look compleatly afro engineered
