Default Copper Head Gasket

Has anyone use a copper head gasket on a Honda engine? The normal practice is to o-ring the block before using the copper gasket. I know on high hp 3SGTE engine , MR2 Turbo, a compression leak past the o-ring into the water jacket usually develop. This will over heat the engine. It has some thing to do with the heat expansion betweet the cast iron block, the aluminum head and the copper gasket. It just doesn't work well in a MR2 Turbo. I am not sure about Honda engine.

I use a Copper head gasket (SCE) on my Built ZC. If you get the machine work done correctly it will work just fine. Sometimes its tough finding a shop that will even do it. Plus make sure the machinest does a good job with the steel o-rings, since they will have to be made my hand. The edges of the ring will need to be filed so the seal correctly.

You can O-ring just the block, or just the head. The best way is to do both, by putting a reciever grove in the cylinder head, so when the gasket it crushed it makes a very nice seal. I also recommend using a nice set of ARP studs when doing anything performance orientated.

I am leaning against copper HG because of the added $$ for the perfect machine work to o-ring both the head and the block. DRT racing in Woodside, NY claimed that they could do it. I am leaning toward a cheaper route with stopper type metal head gasket. It will probably be HKS if they make a stopper type metal HG for the D16A6. That will also help me maintain a low compression ratio.
