cool or not cool?

I don't really like the hatch kit or the hood but the CRX kit looks sweet to me.

I vote for gay. The guy who turnned the NSX into a ferrari was kinda cool, and that was some serious skill. This is just a body kit.

wait till the ricers see this ----. ::)

and accually i came accross these peoples website(the ones who make the kit) and they have several kits for several different cars.

Re:cool or not cool?

I dont know i think thats a lil to complicated for most ricers to accomplish and you cant buy it at pepboys so that rules it our for alot of ricers. I personally think it looks very clean *the convertible hatch* and if i was into showing my car or i had 15 thousand dollars layin around i would give it a shot.

99% of ricers dont do there own work. thats the #1 rule for ricers. they will not do there own work.

Re:cool or not cool?

it takes a lot of imagination and design to come up with a concept for a car. i bought my crx because i like the style. body kits are for those people who want to stand out and be different as far as i'm concerned. although these kits are unique and eye catching i don't think i'd do something that different to my car. it looks like they are trying to make it something it isn't. the changes are too dramatic. they both look european to me.

Re:cool or not cool?

The cars that they are being converted to arn't even that great. So you have a cabrio, well noone in the US cares.

this was true about 2 years ago. and 2 years ago there was a reason for body kits. it was called aerodynamics.
now its all part of the fad, its for 100% styling, and no one is "stnading out" and "being different" these days with body kits because everyone has them.

im not gonna lie, i used to like body kits, but then i realized how ------- retarded they are, and how everyone has them, and its all part of the "sport compact scene" now.

I look at it like this: some people need body kits like we need turbo's. They full-fill there "image" with a body kit, neon lights, painted up interiors, big ass wheels, and painted brake calipers. They have minimal mechanical skills, and do desire to learn then.(ricer)

Us, the non-ricers, we full-fill our "image" with fast cars, that preform well, most things on our cars have a purpose and we do 99% of our own work. We desire to learn more, help each other out, and figure ---- out for ourselves.

thats the difference between a ricer and a non-ricer to me.

the kit looked like it combined the body of an NSX, integra, Z4, and a Cavalier :-X

that's what I was thinking... I kinda dig them for that fact that most people can't tell what it is after the conversion. Good for show cars, but not road racing like my car.

Like sccaeg said, body kits are just for styling now, no benefit on performance like our mods.

Re:cool or not cool?

I saw this over a year ago and at first I liked it and even wanted it (the CRX one), but the more I looked at the the less I liked it. The fenders remind me of a Focus and the line around the front bumper clipping the top of the fender just looks bad. The rear bumper on the Civic looks like a big butt. Now I wouldn't even think of putting it on my car. If I had time, money, and skills I'd do something similar (but better) from scratch, something that would look like it had been manufactured that way. I guess I'm a bit of a "ricer" myself (I don't like the term because it seems racially derogitory) because I don't see anything wrong with improving the cosmedics of a car. To me its no different than what we're doing, improving the performance. Either way, isn't it making the car something it wasn't meant to be? Now, I agree that stickers of non-existant mods, gawdy paint everywhere, etc is stupid. I don't personally like most body kits because they don't look like they belong there, but that just my own tastes. (BTW, on the outside, my car is completely stock except for 16" rims.)

I like the hatch conversion one, and it does look like a lotus, when I saw the price for the kit, I was thinking, i'd rather buy a used lotus.

But it is definitely nice, the crx one looks shitty.

WTF????

that's one hell of a chop job you have to do to get that ---- to fit on the hatch. if I bought a car with a fucked up beyond belief body I'd think about something like that, but I'm not about to take my fair condition hatch and chop it up.

I just recognized the website, I actually know this guy. We both run in a local Road Race club, he's got an Accord with a 5.1 home theater setup that's really gay, it actually uses a home receiver on a converter, and he still shows the damn thing.

He's pretty homo, but I wouldn't mind getting some sideskirts from him to cover up my rust...

If it were a kit that you built from the ground up it would be cool. But converting anny car into something its not is pretty gay.

I agree to some extent. to put a body kit on a car just to be able to say you have a body kit is one thing, to put one on because you like the way it looks is another. I have the WWRS on my CRX only because i hated the way the stock beltline molding looks on the car. I know that it doesn't make it any faster (in fact it slows me down..that ---- is HEAVY), but i did it for a reason. Most body kits aren't even functional from a aerodynamics standpoint, they're just a styling part.

I guess I'm just a little touchy because someone on this board recently called my car rice...and I disagree. I've done the majority of the work on the car myself, there's no decals, vinyl graphics, stickers whatsoever, and the car is decently fast considering i'm not turbo'd (yet). I did pick a flashy color when it was painted, but it is a stock Honda color that I really like.

sorry for the rant.

Ben

ps- those Vitesse kits are butt ass mahfuggin ugleee.
