Converting to propane

What do you all think about this? We are thinking of doing this to the van, maybe my civic if this gas price keeps going up.

Just a few questions

What is required?

How much power does it make over conventional gasoline?

Can it be turbo friendly?

and is it worth it?

LPG which turns into a gas before combustion sucks ass.

nobody does it anymore because the cost of propane has gone up. what you save by switching doesn't warrant the cost of switching. When you switch to propane the vehicle tends to loose a very noticable amount of power. Most of the propane vehicles I have driven are slower than balls and stink like leaky propane.

Propane burns alot cleaner and at a high A/F ratio which is why they use it in forklifts and power burnishers, so you can run it in a wearhouse or department store and not ------- die.

Propane also has a higher knock limit-higher octane rating-then gasoline. I've seen propane injection kits for turbo cars, they serve the same purpose as alchy injection but I perhaps less efficient at lowering temperatures in the combustion chamber.

It can make mad power!, Not as much as gas though. At Mopar Fest last year the guy beside us had a Street Driven 850hp 9000rpm Hemi in a 4dr Valiant. It was gas, but he cnverts car/van to propane for a living. His next project was a 600hp or so Propane 440 Dart. We didn't think he would do it but this year, what doe she show up in, a 576hp PROPANE Dart w/dyno sheet to prove it. Probably cost MAD Cash to do it though!!

For the cost these days, unless it is a service vehicle that put a billion miles per month it's not worth it. Plus filling sttios for vehicles are becoming less known as the cost of training personal is there also. I used to be a licenced Propane Pumper, but since then my licence has expired.
