AT conversion costs

This is just a info type post. I am a total moron when it comes to MT parts, because my only honda is a AT.

A guy offered to sell me for $200:
Slave cylinder
hard lines
Si Tranny
linkage
shifter
pedals

Re:AT conversion costs

sounds decent to me. make sure the tranny has no grinds and is a REAL si tranny.

Re:AT conversion costs

well the Si part will be easy, the grinds will be hard, b/c it is out of the car. I know where the kid lives so the tranny will be through his window if it grinds.

I'd still try to talk him down a little, but in my opinion the deal doesn't seem too bad. For some reason I was thinking hydro tranny, you have an 'EF' right?

Regardless, I would see if he'd bite on $150 just for the heck of it. Or try 175. And knowing which window he sleeps under would be a plus. :P

See if he can provide some type of warranty towards grinds too. If no warranty, price goes down. ;)

I have an EG. The tranny is out of an EG also.

Re:AT conversion costs

so I was right to think hydro tranny 8)

Well 200 don't sound too bad, but it wouldn't hurt to try and pay less ;)

Re:AT conversion costs

well I won't be paying a full $200. That is the highest price. He gave me like $50 worth of parts from a parts car, and I also did an ECu for him so that will take care of almost all the rest. Plus he is taking it all off an delivering it. So that ain't so bad.

Re:AT conversion costs

well sounds like you have the deal in the bag 8)

Have fun doing the conversion, it'll be sweet to have a manuel car, but the insurance company still thinks it's an auto :P

yaaahhhh!!!!

I've seen si tranny's go for $200 by themselves, but when you hear "It's suppossed to be good, but I don't know for sure" the price goes down $150. hahaha

Re:AT conversion costs

Well this kids knows that he will be getting the tranny back if it grinds. Just not handed to him.

Re:AT conversion costs

thats a pretty decent deal.

to make this easier on you, dont remove the current pedal assembly, just the brake lever, and bold the skinny one in, then add the clutch one. Also, there is a metal round piece that fills the hole the shifter sits in, with some thick rubber boots, go to a junkyard and drill one of those out. they have 4 spot welds. then get those rubber boots too so everything seals up good.

I spent about $600 on my conversion, $300 of it was a tranny i bought tho, i know i overpaid ;)

also, the hanger in the engine bay is different, you can get the MT upper tranny mount hanger from honda for like $35, drill out the old one (more spot welds. then mock up the tranny n stuff and get your location for the hanger set, and weld it in. both upper and lower tranny mounts are not the same, so you'll need those.

wiring is pretty easy...the two big wires on the harness in the console around the shifter need to cross to get the starter to turn, you can wire those to the switch on the back of the clutch pedal, or toggle switch them and hide them, instant hidden starter kill.

all in all the conversion was pretty easy, the hanger on the side is hard to remove if the motor and tranny are in the car. If you want me to take a measurement as to where the new one needs to sit, I can do that as well.
