Computer topic: RAM requirements

Out of curiosity...
I have a new Dell which the manual and the webpage say uses PC2700 RAM.
Well when shiopping on newegg I only found PC3200 RAM
So I bought it, threw it in there and it works.

Question is, will it damage anything? Is it not working 100% and I just dont notice it? I think Its still kinda laggy though for the specs (2.4GHZ, 768MB RAM integrated graphics card)

your computer still may run with the wrong ram, but i would check (start>run>msinfo32) to see if windows actually sees the ram. Kain. where u at nigga

if it works then dont complain. ram is oretty much a failsafe thing. if it works, it works. if it dont, it dont. in this case, it works. good job. but if you have both 2700 and 3200... you might experence some slowdowns when doing some high end stuff. but i doubt that you could have two different speed ram in there.

the 3200 is dumbed down to 2700(333) speeds, hence you dont notice that much difference(unless you use something memory extensive). Now if you take out the 2700, and leave the pc3200(400), you can overclock your cpu by a bit more and notice quicker software load times.

I ran 333 and 400 together for a day, my mobo overclocked the 333 and burned it up :(
