i have a pop-up blocker, ran spy-bot and mcafee. i still have this one pop-up from 1800- solutions and some other ------ thing. so i went into my program files and bam, there the little ---- was. i went to delete it, and this is what I got:

make sure the disc is not full or write protected and that its not currrently not in use.

if you click on start..
go to run
type "msconfig"
and then click on the services tag..

you will see all the things running on your computer.

uncheck all but your mcaffe or virus. and then restart your cpu. and then try to delete that 180 solutions. that might work for ya

Try downloading Ad-aware, it will pick up a lot of spyware that Spybot misses. (And spybot will catch a few that ad-aware misses, so I run both.) www.lavasoftusa.com

You can't delete it because it's running. I forget the executable name for it, but if you wanna take a screen shot of "Processes" in task manager, we can figure it out.

Unless you're not running XP...

crtl+alt+del, find out what it is you want to manually delete, and end the process, becasue its running, and wont let you delete it, thats why youre getting that message. Once you end the process, then you can delete it. Just dont have IE Explorer open or anything else

Here's an idea. Dump IE, because it's a security nightmare. Use Firefox and you won't have to worry about on the fly Active X installs due to holes in IE. Otherwise, have fun running ad aware/spybot a few times a week. Trust me, once you start using tabbed browsing, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

Also, you can add URLs to HOSTS.TXT on your computer and have bad websites resolve to localhost, and thus not display.
