Yeah its a neverending cycle. A little back the athlon 64s were making P4s look like toasters.

Yeah if it's not giving you any kind of POST beeps theres a good chance the board could be fried too. Try turning the computer on without the CPU in the socket. If it gives some kind of beeps then it may be good.

Oh and with the socket A's that have the CPU core exposed, be careful putting the heatsink on and off. You can chip the edges of the core that sticks up in the center of the chip. I have an Athlon 1.4 GHz from back in 01, still runs but it's chipped to ----.
