computer problem..

ok so probly like a month or 2 ago my Windows media player just started playing an older version (version 6.4.09.1128)? i'm not to sure how it happened. i have Windows media player 10 on my computer. the thing is it only plays on the older version when trying to watch a link online, or a link that is something other then a wmv format.
it sucks because i cant even watch certain video's at all online, like something from putfile for instance..

anyone have a clue whats up?

When you installed the windows media 10 they have a list of video formats that say would you like windows media to play which type files, make sure its all checked.

hmm ok give me a sec but I believe you can go into one of the options and see what it plays. I dont have media player 10, so iam gonna see if its similar to yours. I gonna look now. Ok if you open media player at the top go to tools and select option and tell me if they have a tab inside the options called file type.

what internet service provider do you use? MSN? Certian versions of MSN use an old version of media player.

i'm using comcast. now that i think about it, when it did start playing the older version was when i got some programs to burn movie files to a CD, so i could watch them in my DVD player. they are... aviwav35, GoldWave, VirtualDub-1.5.10, gwave510, TMPGEnc-2.524.63.181-Free, and nero. but i dont think that these would conflict in anything to do with windows media player :-\ but i could be wrong..

Re: computer problem..

your burning programs sometimes can be conflicting with media player happened to me when i had to use quick time it would play everything in quick time as it would in media player and media player was still my default player, so its possible that could be happening. Try saving your burning programs and everything to a disk so that you could use them later on. try deleting the ones on the computer and see if that solves the problem, if it does thats your problem if it doesnt you can install the files again since you saved them to a disk.

Another good way as well, try this way first as it is easier and then if it doesnt fix it try the other way.
