the motherboard wants ddr400 only, being a dumbass that I am, I went and got ddr333. What would happen if I stick this mother in anyway ? will it work at all or I'm gonna see fireworks early this year ? ;D ??? :-[ :P

you can put it in if you want. nothing bad will happen, but it will be a waste of your time. you wont make it past the post, and you will just get bios beeps for incorrect memory. buy the memory that your motherboard asks for.

I assume you are running a hyper threading intel chip? Is the chipset on the motherboard 865 or 875?

It's true that you aren't going to make it past post. Go get the right ram, don't for get to buy dual channel memory for the intel hyper threading setup.

I'm assuming you mean 333 mhz speed and not ddr 333?
If your only ram is 333 mhz speed and not mixing a 400 with 333 you should be fine.

Your BIOS will either publish an error, or you'll hear your motherboard beep.

However, be careful... motherboards are known to be extremely sensitive with the new technolodgy, you can easily fry them by inserting incompatable parts or make the actual slot for the RAM corrupted for future RAM chips (and yes, I have seen this happen.)

Yeah, I didn't even look at it that hard.. PC3200 ram = 400mhz ----. PC2700 = 333mhz. Most all ram is backwards compatible, but that's the only way. Backwards meaning 400mhz memory can work inside a system calling for 333mhz

well, your megahertz are messin with the hyperthreadin ram oscillators. Your transistors might go into thermodinamical overload which would then switch on the overclocking icc (integrated control chip). All you have to do is set the diodes to full capacity making quiet sure you've got all the waveforms interconnected. Once you've got that done you just one microcontroller away from having full on ac compatible multitiming with your motherboard. As long as you've got 112 volts. Thank you.

holy ----...thats ------ funny. i just gotta say that your post had me laughing for a good five minutes. good work, lol ;D.

as far as backward compatible memory...ive never had good luck using anything else besides the memory that a motherboard calls for. at the same time, ive never fried a motherboard simply by installing wrong memory...just no post, and annoying bios beeps. i can understand if you forced sdram into a ddr slot that your motherboard would get ruined ;) , but i didn't know about the speed deal. i guess i have been lucky so far. well, you learn something new every day i suppose.
