Its not an mpeg or and avi file so I can't just drag it to the desktop. I think I need some type of converter but I don't know ---- about computers...

if it's not a dvd movie than it should be just like any regular files. Can you actually see the extension of that video if so what is it?

Re: Computer Help Needed

when I open the folder on the DVD these are the files on it:

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB

There's only one video on the disk.

Those are content of a dvd movie, the only way to get the video out of it is by using a dvd ripping software.

Well considering he just said it's on a dvd-r, i would assume it's in dvd format...something that was probably done on a dvd burner that usually hooks up to your tv. In order to convert dvd formats to avi or mpeg you need to get a converter...but be prepared if it's a long movie, it'll take forever to convert. Not too sure where to get the converters at, i just have my friend from work do it for me...he has no life ;D And yeah...those are dvd formats.

Yes that is the same as a DVD movie regardless of it you bought it or not. Same formats and such.

What you need is a program that will convert your .vob video object files to mpeg. Your DVD isn't copyrighted so you don't have to do the decrypting step. Just rip the VOBs and convert them. I don't know of a program off hand that will do all this for you but any questions you have about this can be answered on www.videohelp.com I got a lot of help there for anything video related and I always seem to find the asnwer.
