you dont need a fancy anti-spyware prog just get hijackthis and you can get your browser back to norm

Win XP ? just to go tools>browser add-ons or plugins.. remove the ones you dont want.

Download it, run it, copy/paste into the textbox on the website, and fix anything it says is nasty unless you know what it is. Restart windows and you should be ok.
Adaware and Spybot are both good too.
