Computer help!!!!

Are there any programs I can use to add room to a drive. My hard drive is split into 2 drives (C and D). D drive only has like 1 gig where C has like 20 gigs. I want to move some from C to D. I suck at computers. :-\

Re:Computer help!!!!

Do you have two physical hard drives or just two partitions?

(If this doesn't make sense, take off the cover to your computer and tell me how many of these you have)

If you have two physical drives, you can't "transfer over" space.. and I feel your pain. I accidentally killed my 20 gig (stupid cheap IDE cable) and now have to run a 3 and 10 gigger.

i think he has them partitions. I'm no computer whiz, but I think the only time you can modify the partitions are when you are reinstalling windows? I could be wrong, but I've formated my pc and installed windows 3 times in 3 months and there is a section where you can edit partitions.

You can use partition magic or Norton Ghost.

Re:Computer help!!!!

Or go low-budget style, make a Win 98 bootup and use:

C:\ fdisk

Unless you're gonna bust out NT, 2000 or XP, then just use their little program with the installation CD.

But Norton Ghost is good too. I could "borrow" a copy from school and send it to you via email if you'd like ;)

Re:Computer help!!!!

why don't you uninstall a bunch of your programs and reinstall them to the other drive? some programs may not like it if not on the C, but you would have to test them out.
run disk cleanup to clear out the temp files if you haven't done that in a while.

Everything gets installed in D for some reason and it's the smallest damn drive. I can't even move stuff out of it. I'll try Norton or Partition magic.
