The only times my fans have come on was when I've had a virus, or when I was doing so much ---- on my computer that it was at 100%. I wasn't doing anything, and I'm wondering if I might have a virus/trojan/worm.

I don't want to reformat. I have tons of music and movies. But if it comes to that, then I guess.

yup, I did that a few minutes ago. It was VERY dusty. I cleaned it up with a vacuum then went over everything with a slightly alcohol-damped napkin.

Seems to be running well now. The fan hasn't come on and it came on like 3 times today.

get you a temp monitor... so you know that your fans are cutting on for a reason...

http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php its what i used to use when i was rendering... it helped me monitor if the comp was going to crap on me or not...

there are many others but this one is good enough

did you try opening it up, and blowing the dust out so that it doesn't block the airflow and cause the fan to come on?
