compression?
does a 90 si have low enough compression to run a turbo or do i need lower compression pistons? i have an extra block i wanna build up to run turbo i just wanna know the best way to go... ?

Re:compression?
yeah for sure man, if its a D16A6 like mine then it has a 9.1:1 compression ratio, but i'd still get a thicker head gasket, thats what i'm doing, they are cheep.
Its a very good engine to turbo, cuz its cheep if youscrew someting up. but i dont think you need rods and pistons, unless you want to run over 10psi on it. |
Re:compression?
I wouldnt even worry about replacing the head gasket either. The D16/D15's have very turbo friendly comrpession. The only advantage switching to a new headgasket would be to run a metal (triple layer gasket) like the d16z6 gasket. The a6 has a composite gasket.

Where can i get a thicker metal head gasket and how much would they cost me?

Re:compression?
well we got the a6 block but were puttin the vtec head on it... is that bad to have vtec with the turbo?

Re:compression?
no its not bad to have vtec and a turbo.....for example all of the B16 turbo guys out there....

Re:compression?
Well, there is a sligh difference between using a block that was deigned for VTec, and a putting a VTec head ona non-VTec designed block.. you start raising compression. The swaps are called "mini-me". I think we're still debating about this boosting a mini-me or not, I have a mini-me, and the compression is pretty high. Not good for boost, but I'm waiting for a few of the elder turbo gus gets to my post on boosting a mini-me. Seems they've done it with success. Oh well..

Re:compression?
I have had 2 turbo mini-me's... Both were pretty good, But I did end up blowing the head gasket on one of them.. a bit to much boost.
