just got up to my apartment , got cable internet hooked up, charter high speed. i get the blue screen of death if the comp has been pluged into the cable modem for 45 mins or so , doesnt happen unless cable modem is plugged in, used ethernet in the dorms last year and no problems. just with this cable modem, any ideas. runnin windows xp sp1 dell dimension 2400. thanks guys.

Start by re-installing the drivers for the ethernet card or swapping another one in if you have any extras. That will most likely take care of it if what you describe is accurate. If not, get the details of the BSOD and do a search in the MS KB.
