Common, Kweli, MF DOOM, Mos Def, Pharoe Monch, Rymesayers...etc all these dudes have been saying for years how hip hop is dead and they got a real good point thats why they have taken the stance that they have like Blackice stated.

Please for the love of god go listen to Pharoes new ---- Desire and of course MF Doom's Mmmm Food and Operation Doomsday is a must if you love hip hop. One day im going to take some of the Beautiful Mix tapes I keep talking about and make a torrent with it. It will blow you mind to listen to Kweli dismantle Ludacris since luda is obviously a marking tool with NO talent.

We keeping it gangster say "fo shizzle", "fo sheezy" and "stayin crunk"
Its easy to pull a breezy, smoke trees, and we stay drunk
Yo, our activism attackin the system, the blacks and latins in prison
Numbers of prison they victim black in the vision
---- and all they got is rappin to listen to
I let them know we missin you, the love is unconditional
Even when the condition is critical, when the livin is miserable
Your position is pivotal, I ain't bullshittin you
Now, why would I lie? Just to get by?
Just to get by, we get fly
The TV got us reachin for stars
Not the ones between Venus and Mars, the ones that be readin for parts
Some people get breast enhancements and ***** enlargers
Saturday sinners Sunday morning at the feet of the Father
They need somethin to rely on, we get high on all types of drug
When, all you really need is love
To get by.. just to get by

Hes trying to educate the people that grew up in teh same slums as he did. Not be gangster, ------- look around you and think for your ------- self.

Widebooty, you're a ------- ***. Common is the ---- and has been doing it for 10 years. All the real rappers are refered to as "Back Packers" because they rap about "conciouse" ----. Not african american ---- as others have mentioned. The demise of groups like Tribe Called Quest and even DeLaSoul is because stupid white people, yes the majority of people who buy rap, not hip hop, misic are white, and want to keep twisting and popping wit it and lean-en and rocking wit it while doing the superman ...waite I sonfused myself .... :P. Black people arent buying that ----. They cant even buy food :P :P

Anyways, take some time and listen to some good hip hop like Mos Def, Common, Talib Quali, Tribe, DeLa, Rhymefest, Consequence, Lupe Fiasco and eve Kanye. Most of these guys, if not all, are college graduates and some are actors now as well. Also listen to the first 2 Black Eyed Peas albums. That was real hip hop. They also speak that way because thats the way they grew up.

Watch CMT some time and you'll see that white people are just as ignorant(I love country Fried home Videos ).

gossa keep et rea dawg!

Common was accused of making bigoted statements during a concert at Emory University in 2006, when he rapped about his certainty that "damn ------s from Duke lacrosse" had raped a "black princess," a reference to Crystal Gail Mangum, who had accused three white Duke University lacrosse players of rape.
Common is a supporter of animal rights and PETA. He recently appeared in a print advertisement for PETA titled "Think Before You Eat".[7] Common is also part of the "Knowing Is Beautiful" movement which supports HIV/AIDS awareness.[8]
Following the release of Be in 2005, several mixed-race artists from the UK hip-hop scene took exception to Common's racist comments about interracial relationships on the song "Real People", and in an interview. The situation started out with an article from UK's Touch magazine, in which he stated "When you see dreadlocked dudes with white girls that’s like they going against what the dreadlock’s purpose was."
Common is father to 10 year old Omoye Assata Lynn (named after exiled political prisoner and former Black Panther Party member, Assata Shakur - a woman whose life story also inspired Common to write the song "A Song For Assata" from his album Like Water for Chocolate).
