Cold Air Intake
 

anyone know who makes a decent cold air intake. i'm looking for the ones the actually set inside the front bumper. Iceman makes one like that, but they are stupid exspensive. i've seen lots of cheapies on ebay, but they all sit in the engine bay, just outside of the battery, and i want the ones that make the 90 degree bend down and the filter is inside the front bumper. let me know if you know who makes/sells these, or if you have one for sale.

Make your own. Dryer ducting + hose clamps = l33t CAI.

2nd one does, but wow $60 from his store.. hahaha Look for it on his Ebay auctions, I got the same exact one for my car for about $40.

Aren't there risks involved with getting a CAI that is close to the ground, as far as getting water in them that can make it up into the engine? I know AEM has a thing to keep the water out, but I dunno about the imitation ones. Also, Honda already pulls air from outside the engine bay with the stock box, I think the filter is the weak point.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't go for a CAI, but I am not sure if the extra 1 HP is worth the water risk. For those who are familiar (and maybe you are, Kaneda), do I have my facts straight?

water intake can be a problem, but we usually don't get the deep of water here in indiana. also, you can get a peice of sheet metal, and make 1/2 a cylinder out of it, and use it to cover the forward facing part of the filter. then switch it to the back side of the filter during a race. i want a CAI that's outside the engine bay since i run SOLO II SCCA. I run almost WOT for about 1 minute, and the car sits and bakes in the sun on a VERY hot black top for five minutes sucking up the hot exhuast from the car in front of me while i'm waiting in the grid. thanks for the advice all. like i said, i must just not be visualigin it right then.

If were talking the crx, then no, honda didnt make it so it sucked up air outside of the engine bay. The snorkal goes around to the front and sucks up air right above the manifold. You can take one of aem's bypas valves and use it with the cheapy's on ebay.

better yet. just go get one u bend off of jcwhitney. some spray paint. a filter..

your own cai lol... easy task..

thats asm's ebay cai from procarparts. we badged it with a aem sticker, nice design fitted easy.. nice paint also lol...
