clutch lasted about 3 months...what now?
alright i finished up my project about 3 mos ago and the factory spec clutch i put in about a year and a half ago started slipping today under boost, so now what?
what would be the best in yall's opinion to go with? found exedy clutches pretty cheap and havent heard anything bad about them, anyone know anything different? thanks in advance for any help |
Re:clutch lasted about 3 months...what now?
yeah, go figure that the clutch wouldn't last with some boost.. time for a race clutch!
I would go with maybe a 3 puck design (someone correct me if you feel necessary). Most of the aftermarket clutchs don't include all the parts, might want to find an OEM replacement just for the extra parts need. Man it has been 4 years since I've touched a clutch.. and that was on the CRX Si - ------- '89 SI trannies are actually using the same ---- as the '88 ones. |
Re:clutch lasted about 3 months...what now?
i have an exceddy clutch in mine. the one that cost $100 something has the OEM specs. the one that's $250. which is the one i gots holds 275-300hp. i've never had a problem with it 2 months now, grips enough to chirp the tires in 1st, & 2nd when full boost hits. car's putting down 260hp at the wheels. it's worth it to get a lightened flywheel along with the clutch.

I have installed two exedy clutches in the past year. I though they were decent clutches for the price and they do include everything you need. there like $110 shipped for one that holds 20% more than stock.

Re:clutch lasted about 3 months...what now?
Mikes Clutches are made By Cluth Specialties. I have one for a few months now. LOVE IT. The 6-puck unsprung Hub make it it a little un-streetly but then just get a spung hub if you don't want the vibration.
The way the clutch Grabs actually scares some of my friends that I take with me!!!! AWSOME BANG FOR BUCK. I Would never spend twice the amount on a ACT, RAM and so one knowing how good these work! |
Re:clutch lasted about 3 months...what now?
I've rapped my clutch master for about 1 or 2 years and I got it used. Even after trashing a tranny from wheel hop, it lived.
I recommend it. Nick |
