Clutch Install/Time slip/Random *PICS* (56k kill yourself now)

*Warning* I didn't proofread this so i don't want to hear any ----...

Well, i finally got off my lazy ass and took some pics of one of the many clutch installs I have done to my car. Many moons ago I had a stock clutch and PP in there and popped a spring. I was in need of a new clutch so I opted for a centerforce Dual Friction clutch and HD PP. Well, that combo lasted all of 8 months before a spring popped out of it as well. Then I decided to get an ACT street organic disc and their HD PP. I found out that 10 psi and that clutch did not mix well either. One day it just started slipping really bad in any gear. I was all fed up with the buying $300 clutch kits all the time so, i was like ---- it, I'll get a really good one and therefore I don't have to worry about it anymore...bad mistake on my behalf. I ordered a 1x dual diaphragm PP and a 6 puck sprung from Clutchnet. I must say that it never slipped :D but i'll also add that over a span of 6 months i went through 12 clutch cables with that PP in there.

What I've learned: Dual Diaphragm PP's and cable trannies do not get along together.

After hearing all the good comments/remarks regarding Mike's (88 Turbo Crx) clutches I figured I'll give it a shot. I ordered his HD PP and 6 puck sprung clutch, which is a "Clutch Specialties" kit. A few days after I ordered it this is what the lovely fedex man brought to my door:
(it's not painted, but i could care less as long as it works well)

I was still a little skeptical that it would hold up to 15 psi, but it's holding up fine so far....Thanks Mike.

This is the clutchnet 1x PP and 6 puck sprung:

It's hard to tell but this is the only one I took showing the Dual Diaphragm:

From the top left working clockwise. Stock PP, stock clutch, Centerforce HD PP, ACT street organic disk, D16a1 flywheel (~20 lbs.), ZC flywheel (~9 lbs.).

Just another pic of the flywheels. BTW, when driving the difference between flywheels is huge.

Random shot of the crank. I cross threaded one of the bolts in there :-\

The clutch specialties clutch and PP installed:

Who says you can't weld cast? :P
I went to take that bolt out and *BAM* it snaps in half. I was like ---- WTF do I do now with half the bolt still stuck in there. I said screw it I'll just weld the other half back in there and we're good to go ;)

Here is an old photo of my doing my first swap in my crx. I picked up the crx for $100, and that teg back there for $300. A friend told me that the teg motor drops right in the crx so I was like i'll try it out. I had no idea what the hell i was doing back then. I drove it around for a few days with the wiring all screwed up.....i turn the blinker on and my brake light would flicker.....I've come a long way from then ...

I finally cut the lower lip on my bumper and pulled the lower "spoiler" thing. Looks pretty bling bling:

I've been getting this a lot, "You have a really shiny radiator".

One last pic. I love this one. I have a hoist, but I lent it to a friend so I obviously couldn't use it. In the past I've always just let the engine "hang" from all the hoses and wires but lately it's been getting really bad. The engine would move alot, stretch the hoses and somtimes tap the radiator. It's also a little scary when you're under the car trying to put the tranny in and you're looking up at the engine just hanging by hoses and wires. I could see the headlines, "Boy Eats Engine". ANyway, i decided to make a ghetto hoist thing with some 4x4's, another random piece of wood and a chain....

It worked quite well.

Geeesh, i forgot I scanned in my timeslip. I went to the track on Saturday mainly because I was bored. I basically just droce down there and wanted to get in a few runs. I have a stock suspension, street tires @ 35 psi, no LSD, and my ignition is really fucked up(bouncing tach and backfiring). I'll quit bitching now, i did three runs at ~12psi and this was the best:
http://www.newbieforces.com/files/Ta...lip5.29.04.JPG

I was spinning the tires in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears.
My best run to date was with my ZC before I blew it at the track. It was a stock motor and with 9psi I ran a 13.7 @ 107mph on street tires.

The motor is fully built(sleeved, rollerwaves, etc.), but it also has ~8.1:1 rollerwaves in there. :-\
I need a real manifold, turbo and fuel managment.

I've never heard of any problems with clutch master clutches.

Re:Clutch Install/Time slip/Random *PICS* (56k kill yourself now)

I am using an SDS EIC (http://www.sdsefi.com/eic.html). Basically it's just two extra fuel injectors mounted on a charge pipe that I can control from inside.
It's not bad, but who knows if it is spraying evenly to all cylinders.

I would like to use TE or some other type of chipping process, although I am not familiar if it. Secondly I dont' even know if it can be used on my PG7 or PJ1 ECU. I have vacuum advance on my distributor, but I also have a BTM. I just want to use TE so I can control the 450's. If I can't use TE then I think I'll be going to use the afc hack.
I don't have as many options as everyone else :-\

Weird, Ive had a Dual Diaphram RPS PP on my cable LS tranny for about 1 1/2 yrs, and so far so good. It gets raped alot too. :-\

Nice ZC you got there....
