clutch ?

I am at the point of whatever, I've tried 3 of the some of biggest names in clutches, and I fried all 3 , clutshmaster stage 5 I fried it, exedy stage 3 fried, ACT stage 3 max extreme fried it also.
I just dynoed my car and I have 418NM translate to around 335ft lbs torque at 14 psi, I normally run 20psi who knows how much power. anyways, I am looking for an affordable clutch that can handle this power and my driving.
maybe I should try this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...215525759&rd=1

i like my exady stage 1 organic, does its job and doesnt slip even with moderately high compression. but thats just NA. turbo though, i wouldnt trust any other clutch than lsd. i already plan to buy my next clutch from him when the time comes. good guy to deal with, even helped me figure out some ---- i had no clue on.

Bust out the wallet. Big power cars that you want to 60 ft and take abuse need a twin disc just the nature of racing. My old boss was trashing act clutches every race until he switched to a mulller RIP old man died couple years back multi disc/custom flywheel set up. Car ran mid 9's on that clutch for 2 years never with one problem. Im running a exedy twin in my drag car which I cant say how I like it yet has the car is still being pieced together piece by piece but it'll do work thats for sure.

i think rudebwoy does more high speed runs on the autobahn than drags, but i don't actually know, that all I ever see him talk about though

Doesnt matter single disc clutches can only handle so much power. Wanna watch a 500 hp civic run 11's. Buy a normal run of the mill clutch. Same car with a baller clutch will lay down the law. Been through this before there isnt away around it.

I am looking at the twin disc, but man its expensive. I messaged LSD , he havent replied yet. he have a good one on there. I might just see what a ebay clutch will do compared to ACT, CM, or EXEDY. who know maybe it will last longer.

competition twin disc may be in order.

just wondering, do hondas have a problem if you use too heavy of a pressure plate like the subarus do and then they eat up thrust bearings?

Re: clutch ?

I am really confused and stressed right now. can't dump the $1400 in a twin disc whcih actually cost more than the most expensive part on my car. I'll be on vacation with the wife and children for 2 weeks in miami, I need money!
I have a clusmasters FX500 pressure plate used but in good shape, and a used ACT disc. as my backup clutch. but I also need a new flywheel also, it wll cost more money to get this one resurfaced. I was gonna run the backup clutch untill I sell enough parts to by the cheapest twin disc clutch which seems like its the competition clutch twn disc. so $129 +shipping for a F1 9lbs flywheel.

I have a cusco twin disk one that you can have for 50+shipping. Might need to replace the disk or rebuild the hole thing though.

Re: clutch ?

that would be for a cable transmission, I have hydrolic.
when I say I am confused I mean man I don't what to do about this clutch situation.
I came up with a decision, I am going to install my old clutchmasters fx500 pressure plate with Gripforce disc used but in good shape, untill I sell enough ---- ti raise $1200 and buy a competition trin disc fron the cron.

I runCompetition Clutch Twin with cerametallic discs.

The Comp clutch, Clutch Master and Tilton clutch parts are ALL manufactured by the SAME ------- company (Quartermaster clutches) - which is where your replacement disks will come from. Its cool cause yopu can get both disks to rebuild your clutch for only 225 bux).... The Twins use a modified TO bearing that comes with the kit, they are only like 25 bux from the respective manufactures as well.

Tilton also offers the supercool hydraulic TO bearing if you need it...

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...F_enUS242US242

but the clutches are fundementally exactly the same... With SLIGHTY different Clutch baskets (the top part that encloses the friction plates and floter plarte Just make sure if ordering a B series one that you get the newer style (ALL 1 PIECE Chromoly steel flywheel)

The older aluminum ones with the bolt on ring gears lead to lots of trouble... Ask Random Hero about that. :S

I've pulled the tranny off 7 times just for that ------- aluminum flywheel breaking. Thank god I got the cromly one now.

I been there with a fidanza one before. was lucky, my last one was chromoly.
now with this new twin disc I called CC to find out more details they said to get the the one with the B in number, so I ordered that.
I spent over $5000 on the car within the last few days. even a new turbo setup is on the way, since precision told me basically ---- off on rebuilding their turbo. so I went with a completely new setup with top mount and t3/t67 big kahuna turbo, shooting for 650+whp now. I did not even got a chance to reah my goal with the last setup because of turbo failure.

You're not supposed to do burnouts with the starter motor.
