Thats because they are usually (thankfully) stuck closed. I did an auto to manual swap and wanted it perfect so I went to all the trouble to hook up the nuetral safety start clutch switch instead of bypassing it.... only to have it stuck closed anyways.

i was thinking something like that but the tab that one of them would touch has a hole in it right where the button is so it doesnt do anything. the hole also looks like it was there from the factory and not drilled by someone

Re: civic with 2 clutch switches?

There should be a bolt and a nut in the hole, which makes it adjustable in length.

No, i think its actually because all ef's you have driven are 88 or 89. In 1990 they implemented a clutch switch on the efs as well.

there`s actually a little more then a nut and a bolt. it has a few misc. washer and stuff...

I had an 88 HB, had to have the clutch in to start it and as a matter of fact, EVERY 88-91 civic that I have been in has needed the clutch to be depressed in order to start it. I have never even encountered one with a "stuck switch" :4
