check valves
how to make some check valves for the 90dx ???
|
Re:check valves
step 1: drive to pet city
step 2: go inside and ask employee for some check alves step 3: proceed to checkout step 4: install new check valves and boost |
Re:check valves
thanx

Re:check valves
theyre intended for use with fish tanks, so any pet store (not just pet city) ;D ;D

Re:check valves
or you could go to an autoparts story and pick up some copper fittings, 2 inlet/outlets, one cylinder that they will screw into, and a spring and ball bearing.
put them all together in the right order and you got yerself a check valve that you can take apart and clean very easily. i went this route after taking my check valves back to zellers every week saying they were defective, when they were just gummed up from my vacuum system.(they are suppost to be used for aquariums but i took them back smelling like gas and oil) hhahahaha but this is how it should look <= === => inlet then [ball bearing then spring] then outlet items in bracket are inside the cylinder. |
Re:check valves
electronic solutions are quit a bit more expensive but work very smooth.
Check out http://www.splitsec.com/products/vc1/vc1ds.htm or http://solar.innercite.com/comptech/340050.html for just several examples ..... Enjoy! |
Re:check valves
what does the check valve do?
|
Re:check valves
a check valve hides boost from your car and you won't get a check engine light.
|
Re:check valves
why not just unplug the check engine light? :p
|
Re:check valves
driving your car with the check engine light on is light running windows in safe mode... my car limps pretty bad once the check engine light comes on
|
Re:check valves
Yikes.... those electronic ones are expensive, I am going to use a Zener diode and resistor to clamp the voltage it cost like 2 bucks to make and it is simple in design.
|
Re:check valves
let me know how that clamp works...
btw, clamp it directly at 3.0v's Jeff |
Re:check valves
I'm told the magic clamp number is 2.92 volts ........ keeping in mind the clamping device needs to stay completely transparent under that voltage.
If you want to get really fancy (but still be low budget), JHill made me a "Ghostbooster" (using schematics off a thread on www.s2ki.com which uses a spare MAP Sensor and a "best battery" circuit in reverse to always pick the lower voltage value between the two MAPs (this premium solution is self compensating for changes in atmospheric conditions and elevation). |
Re:check valves
we cant just throw on a dsm one onto the intake and unplug the stock one ?
dam! |
Re:check valves
hmm, From tests I have done, I have found that the CEL will trigger at 3.2v's.
And no you cannot use the DSM map sensor? plus they use a mass-air flow. Jeff |
Re:check valves
I don't doubt the CEL triggers at 3.2 v .... but I'm told the computer starts to get suspicious at above 2.9x and starts pulling timing out …… and who knows what else ..... this is all second/third hand info so take it for what it's worth ;)

Re:check valves
if you still want the check valves, here the part number from Pep boys or Autozone:
47149 for $3.00 a piece It is in a red package with a big bold letter that says "HELP". |
Re:check valves
Don't get plastic check valves from the pet store. They have plastic and metal ones, opt for the metal ones.
Under boost, the plastic tops would literally blow off resulting in a loss of vacuum to the MAP sensor so the car would run like potty. |
Re:check valves
what causes check valves to go bad after a week of boost?
|
Re:check valves
shitty construction
the pet store ones blow ass, and the auto store ones are not much better. Honestly they suck all together >:( Jeff |
Re:check valves
This is how mine looked like before my VAFC hack. I had these ugly valves hidden behind the Intake manifold:
