Cheap subwoofers?

I have a chance to get some nice sony tower speakers for cheap. They've got two 12" subs, a 4" mid, and a 2" tweeter in each.

the surround on the subwoofers is rotting out and if I get them I'll want to just get new subs. I don't want to pay a ton of money for subs.

I've got some towers right now that I'm going to keep as well. They've got some 12's in them that i got for like 30 a piece and sound great. (those have since been discontinued though :'()

Long story short, I need 4 12" subwoofers for cheap. Where should I get them and how do you like them?
*looked at ebay* - not sure if i can find a better deal than that, but I figured I'd ask

Personally I would save up and get some nice speakers. Your ears will thank you later.

I'm also looking, but only to get one 12" sub, thats it. I've already got the box, think I could pull off sub/amp/wires and still be under $100 yet still sound okay? I wouldn't have it pounding, just there enough for a little bump in the trunk.

car subwoofers for my home speakers.

for a cheap sub that sounds good try the volfenhags... they're the all red ones. I've tried one or 2 and haven't been disapointed.

Re: Cheap subwoofers?

they're just subs and I'm not going to be pushing them to their limits so i'm not too worried about quality

ehh...I like my audio clean. To the limit or not you can tell. If your just worried about a little bass I guess cheap will work if it's ok with you.

Re: Cheap subwoofers?

make sure you get DVC 4ohm subs
you need 8ohm sto go into your house system or you could toast your reciver

a 4ohm DVC can be wired for 8ohm

I got a Sony Xplode in my car, had it for about 3 years now and is still working well. I think it was about 50 bucks for the 10" at walmart

So did I, buy Power Acoustik. I ran a 10" in my CRX and it sounded great with a slot port box.

I'm confused ???

sorry for the hijack but this looks like its going nowhere...

any body know if those farad caps work?.....some dude at work gave me a .5 or 500k cap and i dont know if it will help my system?
how do u charge one of these?

alpalwal 04-05-2007 12:40 AM

Re: Cheap subwoofers?

You don't charge it, you just hook it up inline with your power. What happens is it smoothes out the electrical current.

If you have some big subs and ever time they hit, your headlights dim, the capacitor will discharge when it hits and not dim your lights.

That place is great to look at but there prices are for straight drug dealers or people with awesome jobs, which neither is me.
