cheap-o exhaust

was looking at the knock off mufflers on egay, think it would sound like total ----? being boosted would take most gay rasp sound out wouldn't it?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true
its only 50 bucks shipped

Re:cheap-o exhaust

that thing just looks rice. Yes the turbo will take away most of the rasp associated with hondas. Try and go for a lower profile free flowing exhaust.

durden 08-17-2004 03:18 PM

Re:cheap-o exhaust

yea its kinda rice...i was planning on shooting it with a coat of black for more stealthness

quadnie 08-17-2004 03:22 PM

Re:cheap-o exhaust

Will most likely burn off.. just get a turbo muffler from your local auto parts store, it's total low profile and flows pretty decent. Best of course would be a dynomax muffler. If I ever sold the flowmasters I would probably go with that.

durden 08-17-2004 03:24 PM

Re:cheap-o exhaust

yea that was my second choice, i just hope i have enough room to run it going with the car instead of sideways on the back end... it would flow better if it was more straight wouldn't it?

quadnie 08-17-2004 03:27 PM

Re:cheap-o exhaust

I don't think it's going to make that much of a difference really.. if anything the bends give the exhaust a better sound. As long as your diameter is a good size and you have a free flowing muffler you should be all good.

go to auto zone or something place like that and get...---- i cant remember the name. its called "something turbo muffler" it looks like a stock muffler but it has 2.5 inlet and outlet pipes. it sounds really good not to mention it cost me 19.99

Re:cheap-o exhaust

thats the exhaust I have without the color ---- at the end. it sounds good, has lasted a while, but its LOUD! I think it looks good to.

Re:cheap-o exhaust

I have a can like that on my car as well for about a year now. It doesnt sound too bad, and you can always just throw the silencer in there. Mine doesnt have the big tip at the end though, so it sits nice and stealthy under the bumper.

i'll hook you up with a dynomax turbo 2 muffler for 20+shipping pm me if you want it

quadnie 08-17-2004 05:59 PM

Re:cheap-o exhaust

the thing about exhaust is you want something that flows the most with the least amount of noise.. having a nappy ass loud exhaust is never cool - IMO. The turbo is a good cheap approach but I've actually seen one of those fail (on a 240 volvo none the less). I forget which dynomax is the best, I think it's the steel one, not the stainless steel universal muffler.. from the CFM ratings it outflows all the rest and promises a quiet ride.. let me know if anybody runs them and how they sound.

dude i got my exhaust from www.summitracing.com and it cost me like 23 shipped...its a turbo muff and has 2.5 inlet/outlet..sounds nice and flows great!!! and i painted it flat balck paint is still on the basterd...he he

quadnie 08-17-2004 06:18 PM

Re:cheap-o exhaust

well then maybe it's the same generic turbo muffler we are talking about? When I worked at discount auto a few years back we sold them.. I think RandomStrike is running one of those on his teg and his numbers are pretty decent.

I have to replace my muffler. What does that "thrush" one look like? Maybe I'll get that one if it sounds good and doesn't look like a rice cooker

Re:cheap-o exhaust

I thought it was called like a turbo muffler and flows really well.. it's like a normal muffler that's not one that has a tip. Fits perfect for your cars that aren't designed with a muffler that points out.. like say a 2g integra.

Re:cheap-o exhaust

Thats basically the same muffler I have, just a ripoff version. I have a Apexi N1 80mm. Sounds pretty good. That muffler would look pretty good flat black, highly doubt it would burn off with some high temp engine paint.

Remember its 30 bucks to ship that gay fucker, thats how they get their money on those auctions.

ahhh, yes... 30 bucks. Doubt it's even that heavy. I tried looking for that damn muffler at autozone. Not there. I'll try some of the others I guess.

I've heard that as long as your running some sort of FI then you can't beat a pair of thrush glass packs. Their cheep as ---- and w/ the turbo they sound pretty good imo.

Re:cheap-o exhaust

i've got one of the 50 dollar shipped ebay specials, mine doesn't have a long ass tip like that one thought, it looks ver nice (not ricey at all) it was pretty loud when i was n/a, but sounds very nice turbo'd.

it looks like a stock muffler from lets say an 88-91 civic hatch back. how the place it side ways and then bent a pipe out the back. i tryed placing it long ways so it came right out after the axle but it was a little too long. its got 2.5 inlet and outlet. it tucks in there really nicley and looks exactly stock. sounds good. its pretty quiet and not ricey looking or sounding at all. do deal for 20 bux

Doofnoil 08-19-2004 04:02 PM

Re:cheap-o exhaust

goto your local exhaust shop, buy some hangers, a length of pipe, a muffler, and some flexible piping for like 100 bucks and slap it on there... bitches.

^see thats my thing i say bitches after every post^... bitches

do you even know what the ---- you're talking about kain, b/c i don't think anyone else does.......

Re:cheap-o exhaust

RX7's are notorious for beating the ---- out of muffler since those rotory's have super high exh. temp and destroy mufflers if they weren't designed for high temp ----. Yeah I know all exhaust is hot but rotories are burning hot like a sticking your weiner in a hot grapefruit. It feels good at first and then the acidity gets yeah. The same for the mufflers, they will sound good at first and then just get hollowed out and all the guts will just burn out and you left with a spaghetto's can on your exhaust.

Re:cheap-o exhaust

if I had an RX7 It'd have a racing beat exhaust, can't go with one of those.

overrated if you ask me, i got my full exhaust with high flow cat on my 7 for the cost of a racing beat cat back system

bambooseven 08-20-2004 08:44 PM

Re:cheap-o exhaust

racing beat is within walking distance from my house. that, and if I had an RX7 it wouldn't have a cat on it in the first place, so I wouldn't be to worried about it.

87na_rx7 08-20-2004 08:47 PM

Re:cheap-o exhaust

yea i wanted to take mine off but i had to do threw emissions, but no cat on a 7 is cool flames and ----
