Default Chances against a 97 Saab 9000(And the results...)

Ok my friend had a saab 900 and i have a 99 ex which we race all the time. well he recently got into an accident and his mommy and daddy brought him a new saab that is boosted. Its a 97 saab 9000 and he talking all this smack that he would rape my car. Well i was planning on boosting before this summer and i was hoping i could beat his ***. I went on google trying to look up ---- on the specs so im guessing he's running about 200-225 bhp. hes car a ------- boat too about 3200 ibs. The only thing i cant find is what kind of turbo he has. Its spools up way too quick around 2500 rpms so it would have to be a small turbo. im not thinking its a t3 because it would hav much more lag and would spool around 3500-4000 rpm(depending on the wheel trim). Im just curious on what type of turbo he has and should i be able to take him with a t3 turbo and boosting 9-10 psi?

----! what psi are you running? does your turbo hold that boost all the way to the redline? I know he only running 7 pounds of boost and i'll be running 9-10. I have to beat this ****** no way in hell im loosing to him. Its just a ------- saab

200 bhp is about 160-170 at the wheels. you would prolly be making close to 200 at the wheels and your car is about 1k pounds lighter, so yeah, you might beat him by a hair i know the older saab's used the .42/.48 t3 and it would spool up quick because the engine has a larger displacement.

Well, from what i see, most of the saabs are in the 16's, and a few are in the low 15's, so i dont see you having any problems whooping his ***, just casue its turbo, doesnt mean its fast, jsut means it needs that power to move that boat, and still get decent gas mileage. Your 99ex should be at least low 14's, maybe even break into 13's with a good driver.

ok coo coo yeah that explains why he spools up so quickly. I was hoping that the power to weight ratio would be in my favor as well. And i am a pretty good driver so thats no problem. He just talking alot of smack how fast his car is now and quess what? the ****** trying really hard to race me now that im not turbo yet. ------- -----. Im might just go ahead and just see how fast his car is though so i know what im up against.

All SABS use Garrett T3 42./48 AR turbos. They are not fast, I have owned/worked on lots of them. The last 9000 I got for pars but it still ran and drove so we jamed the wastegate shut to see what it would do with like 30 PSI of boost. It was fun for about five minutes untill we blew the side out of the plastic intercooler tank. Even at full boost it wasnt all that impressive. It felt like a mid 14 second car.

Not all Saabs. The Saab 9-5 uses a Garrett GT17.
