Cell phone

Well as most of you know, I've started driving truck(from ontario, canada to Cali) so i want to get a cell through an american company since most of my time is spent in the states... What are the companies in the states. Keep in mind I am going to need a N. American long distance plan.

Re: Cell phone

Sprint has worked good for me. I live in WI and have traveled to MN and FL with it working the entire way. Also with Sprint, you don't have to pay extra for nationwide coverage. Anywhere they have service (Since you will be travelling on major highways/interstates) you just call like normal. Go to their website and take a look at their coverage map and see if it will cover your route.

Re: Cell phone

Verizon is the most reliable in America according to a recent consumer reports article. tmobile came in second but is one third the price. i dont think i would go tmobile tho because there is no analog fallback...with the rural highway, that is prolly something ull want

Re: Cell phone

I'd go Verizon, i've never had an issue with them, and their customer service is great, or has been for me anyway. I had Nextel, but that ---- was way overpriced, both the service and the phones, and everytime i called customer service i was treated like ---- and they never fixed my problems.

Re: Cell phone

verizon's coverage is pretty good, pretty much the only place I don't get service is my schools autoshop (they installed signal blockers when they rebuilt the school). and there's a few spots where my phone is the only one with service out of my friends. very good coverage in washington :y

since it's temporary (?) i think you might be able to go with a pay-as-you-go phone, but I don't know what there long-distance charges are. tmobile has em, you can buy em at pretty much any big store. hell, we sell them at my work, a grocery store

Re: Cell phone

i had verizon for a while, and it was really good. but the bills kept getting bigger and bigger, so i dropped it. i went with nextel for a little while, but there stuff sucks, i hate the phones. and the service sucked. i have cingular now, and haven't had a problem yet, customer service is really good and the phones are pretty nice. the bills is nice too :)

Re: Cell phone

i think verison would be the best. but you said that you will only be doing this for a short while so i would try and just get a year long contract.

Re: Cell phone

sprints the best if you want a shady company with the worst customer service in the world.

Re: Cell phone

haha, yea sprint is ok as long as you never change your number or buy a different phone , and you never call customer care. i have to fix peoples accounts that are fucked up because the retards in the call center don't know what they are doing. but i have a sprint phone and have great coverage and its free.

Re: Cell phone

boo verizon sucks!!! But reality is even though I dislike it, it is the most RELIABLE service I have had. I just have an issue with incoming call when I don't recieve all of them, but outgoing is pretty much fantastic and the coverage is great too.

*cough*sprint sucks*cough*so does nextel*cough*

I liked Cingular when I had it, but for your purposes I would opt against it. So Verizon all the way :8

Wow I thought I was the only person with the incoming call problem. Its quite frustrating all the problems Verizon has and yet there still the best.... just watch out for their "rebates" you might have to fight for your money.
