CB radio?

I want to get into some off-roading now, and I figured buying a CB radio would be a good accessory for my truck. Not looking to spend a whole lot. But I'm just looking for some suggestions on what I should look for in a CB. Thanks

A CB is manditory now on a lot of club runs around here. Its nice to have. I have a cheap radio shack CB I got on ebay for $7 and it works fine for trail use. I also have a nice Royce for the other Jeep that will about reach Japan with the right antenna.

It's probably one of the best tools for an off-road emergency.

I was looking at this one:

Seems pretty cheap for a new one.

What would you guys suggest as far as antennas go? I was thinking having two, a smaller one for regular use, so it's not hitting ---- and maybe a much larger one kept in the bed of the truck for emergencys. The antenna is one of the limiting factors on CBs I read somewhere the ideal antenna length for the band they operate in is like 15 feet.

Or should I just say ---- that and get on medium sized one?

Re: CB radio?

102" is the correct length

You will need a SWR meter to tune it though. Laying in the bed of the truck while someone is tuning WILL effect the signal.

Also get a dummy load.

KOO 1167 going 10-10.
