Default carbon build up help

Hi sorry about the question but i need help with my 95 firebird 3.4 v6 i bought the car real cheap with carbon biuld up and iv done a few things to try to get rid of it but i just took off the EGR valve and started it up and it ran good like there was no bogging or nothing but there was a ton of air pushing out where the EGR sits and it sound like a exahust leak under the hood is there any way i could keep the EGR off and block the hole so theres no air comeing out and would it be safe for the car?
thanks

you might get a CEL but it should be kosher otherwise

It probably sounded like an exhaust leak because it was. EGR is Exhaust Gas Recirculation.

I am not sure what your EGR valve looks like. Most likely you can get a fitting if the valve has a threaded body, or just a plate if it has a flange.

EGR = exhaust gas recirculation (correct me if I'm wrong)

Plug it up and try it, if it runs fine then keep it that way. It's for emissions not performance, won't matter either way.

on shitty diesels i block up the EGR with the flanges by making a new gasket out of shim steel, but obviously without the hole in the centre, and refit the valve with the new " gasket " looks stock, but ***** the EGR system off

B-12 Chemtool sucked through brake booster. Also piston soak it.

They do sell a egr block off plate if you can't make one. The car will be fine without it.

wow, I cant believe nobody told you to stand on it, just beat the hell out of it for a little bit, it should burn the carbon out like it was no ones business.

forget about that fi v6 and drop a chevy 350 in with a carb. the camaros and firebirds from 93 and up are junk imo. one thing electrical wise ***** up and many others follow it with no stop in site. if the motor runs like ----, thats because they are ---- lol. the 3.1/4 motors are testing motors as i like to call them. put in most economy cars and have many problems with them regardless of what vehicle its in and never seem to get fixed by GM. ill stick with my 82 Bird as it doesnt give me any problems at all. if i ever had the opportunity to get a newer bird, a painless wire harness would be installed and there would be a carb under the hood with a 350 underneath it.
