car trade? some input appreciated
i have a 93 si hatch back with rota slipsteams kumho tires NX nitrous kit lowered on RSR springs, a short shifter, i/h/e and about 150k on the chassis and less than 100k on the motor, I may trade it for a 94 ex coupe lowered (dunno on what)with a greddy intercooled turbo kit with 2000k miles on the kit and probably a total of 10k boosted miles 6 - 10 lbs, 93 on the motor 160 on chassis. Does anyone think this is a good trade? a bad trade? thanks

Re:car trade? some input appreciated
i wouldnt do it unless the car itself is in nicer shape than yours. buying a car someone else modded and beat the ---- out of isnt really a good idea imo

Re:car trade? some input appreciated

where do you live......ill trade

Re:car trade? some input appreciated
Need more info and possibly pics before we can really make a solid decision, there are a lot of things to consider, trading for boost can be dangerous, but you could always just put a different motor in and keep the boost on it for a fresh start...

I say you got a perfect car to start a HMT on. I wouldn't give that up to take someone elses potential problem. I would rather put a kit together myself and actually make the decisions on whats in it. Plus, you know your motor is good. |
Re:car trade? some input appreciated
hmm i had a hmt but i had to sell it due to financial reasons also i have a refurbished axle (broken then welded back together) and im not sure whether that will handle the boost.
|
Re:car trade? some input appreciated
you snapped the shaft of an axle and then welded it back together?....and it doesnt shake the living ---- outta your car?
|
Re:car trade? some input appreciated
How do you guys snap an axle :o ?????
|
Re:car trade? some input appreciated
i can see snapping the joint, but i thought the shaft was supposed to be pretty strong
|
Re:car trade? some input appreciated
its refurbished so honda welded it back together (or so i was told) and it runs fine even when i redline
|
Re:car trade? some input appreciated
Axles are $80. I wouldn't think about that. I'd be thinking about what that guy has done to his motor to make him not want a boosted car over an N/A car. :-\

Re:car trade? some input appreciated
im thinking of trading him and swapping out that motor and putting in a new less milage Z6 with a cam and port and polished head seeing as d series are relitively cheap, i have a 62 nova that im going to sell come spring time so that will fund whatever i want to do. i wish i could get some pics up damnit :-\

Re:car trade? some input appreciated
well anyways man i dont think you should trade, your car is your car and you know what it has and what it needs, that will save you a lot of stress believe me. Carbon steel is very brittle when it gets hot and in the wrong conditions can snap relatively easy. Get a new set of axles if you have that on your conscience man
