blue or blue and whit
it will be your amp triger or power antana
if it only has power for 30 sec or so when turning the deck on or off it antana if it always on when the deck is it goes to your amp remote

white and grau wires should be rear speakers and purple and green wires are your front speakers(I think)

Re: car stereo gurus......got a request

its remote then, no power ant on the car.

i got front and rear what about left and right??

and another quick question, my car has six speakers (2)4" in dash, (2) 5 1/4" frt doors,(2) 4x6 rear deck. they head unit is only 20amp x 4,will running the dash speakers with the door speakers be a problem?? i am not going for a crazy system but if there is a proper way to do this i would like to know

if you want your amp to stay on at all times when radio power is on, just hook it up to the red wire(12 volt source). itll only stay on as long as your radio is on. if you use your antenna wire you wont get your amo to stay on when you put in a cd.

you wont have a problem if your running all six speakers. just wire the 4 front speakers to the front left and right accordingly, and the same for the rear.

Re: car stereo gurus......got a request

front left +white, -white with black stripe
front right +gray, -gray with black stripe
rear left +green, -green with black stripe
rear right +purple, -purple with black stripe
constant power is yellow
ignition power is red
ground is black
amp turn on is blue with white stripe

to run the dash and door speakers together off the radio the safest way is to series them up. refer to diagram. this will leave the rear channels of the radio free to power the rear speakers.

i am not running an amp, i am using stock components. my car came with the Aktiv system (VW crap amp system)and you need to extensively mod the exsisting wires or run all new. the prev owner hacked it and now im fixing it. nothing performance at all other than the cd player

the prev owner tried to install a CD player and butchered it badly. http://www.corrado-club.com/aktiv/Disabling.cfm read that and you'll see why returning this mess to stock isnt an option

I've never done a ford yet that I had to rewire when adding an aftermarket deck...even on the Explorers and Navigators. Rewiring is old school news...especially when you have access to the right adapter harnesses 8)

its a 92 Carat. just beggin for a VR-T :y

the wiring is so butchered in this thing when i pulled the radio out there was enough wire coming off the connector tht i could have mounted the CD player in the backseat. there is no way in hell i am gonna try to get the aktiv system up and running again. they fucked up the power side and the speaker side.

if you have an old style MKII front engine mount and bracket i'll take it. this hydro one is garbage, it cant even hold the stock 8v in place.

throw some hockey pucks on that bitch :)

Racintweek 08-27-2006 01:23 PM

Re: car stereo gurus......got a request

i forgot all about that, a friend of mine did it to his GLI. i need to take a look at his car. he also used hockey pucks on his springs so he could maintain stockish ride height but get the stiffer rates of race springs

I don't have the engine mount, I know what you are talking about though my hydro ones were fucked, the whole dash would shake when I shifted

i dont think mine are broken, they are just POS mounts. i grind 2nd sometimes cause the engine moves so much, i have to push the clutch in a hold it for a second to let the engine settle back into place before i can shift.

hey rawr, any info on those hockey pucks for the front mount. i asssume just drill a hole in the middle and stack them, but how many??

I wouldnt.

are the door speakers full range? or just mid-bass / woofers?

if they are full range dont run the dash speakers.

when wiring in series like that you'll get an 8ohm load on the head unit = will half the wattage to each speaker, 50w is VERY VERY highly over rated, its like 10-15 tops.

if u said it says 20wx4 then thats REALLY low. so running the fronts in series will likely output less then 5w per channel = poop.

wiring them in parallel will get you to 2ohms, which most head units will crap out or not run that.

imo, wiring only the 4 best speakers (maybe no rears?) then if u want the 5th and 6th get a small amp.

4 used hockey pucks $1.00
1 inch and half drill bit (used) $5.00
launching the line w/o motor rocking back, priceless!

thats what i figured, just wanted to be sure.

mike: would running an amp on stock paper type speakers be safe??? what wattage?? i dont want to blow these shits.
though its now sounding like i should save some $$$ and get some real speakers and a couple amps??(if i do i will be asking more ??? later)

88crxSi 08-28-2006 01:49 PM

Re: car stereo gurus......got a request

ehh just run the front speakers only, then use an amp later on for the 6x9's.

you could run a very small amp on the paper speakers sure.

My friend with an mk2 gti has a 5 channel amp and all of the factory ---- taken out. theirs a box in the back with the cross overs for the components/ amp/ sub mb components up front. 10 inch memphis sub in the box in the back. it sounds pretty good. I forgot about her ----.
