Default How do you race?

How do you race when are streetracing oppsed to the strip? Like how do you take off differently on streetracing vs strip? I've only streetraced for about a half of a year then i've been working on my car for over a year now and i've never raced the strip. I was just woundering about how people heat up there tired before a race on the street for better grip is it even worth it or is it? Also remember hearing about the "6500rpm ricer drop" on another topic what do you drop it at if you even drop it all? I was just curious on what works for you, cuz everyone races differently.

It reall just depends on a person. I just got done racing a a grand prix( won too I might add )We stopped at a light and I knew his *** wanted to race by the way he was driving. I hold down the clutch and left of the break wating for the light to turn green (im in nuetral) I dont peel out or nothing I have it down were i can have a good launch without spinning the tires. (Most people drive automatic so all they have to do is push on the gas and they go.) I always switch gear between 6500 rpms and 7100 rpms. I dont peel out cuz it makes to much noise and attract cops.

first off i burn off about half of my tires. so they become racing slicks.(they know you are the ---- and should not be messed witt when you do that ----). Then i rap it out hella high so you bounce of the rev limitor so they think I have lunch control. (***** with ther mind even more) then lunch right befor its time to go. so what i might be cheating a lil but it works. and i spin the tires hevaly (the car will cacth up with the speed of the tires fast the the car chould all on its own. then right when i hit 2nd i hit the flashers or you can just wire them in. once you hit the flashers you win no mater what...

I rigged my windshield washer LED's to light up with the hazards so people in front will know I won.

You mean how do you get a race or how do you launch?

How to get the race is 1/2 the skill. There is a certain way you gotta drive so you're not going too fast as to speed by any potential and you can't exactly give it all from a light but you gotta make it look convincing so the other dude is like "ja, I can take him".

Lots of times V8's are lured in just by the fact that your car looks like something they could possibly waste. I know a lot of times in my STi 5.0l's were like "ha, watch me waste this..." and without my even using up clutch launching I'd hand them their ***...

As for the race itself, being smart about when to race is important too. Roads have to be quite empty ahead. Conditions have to be good as well. Dry roads and good visibility are important. Safety is important too. I usually shut down 10-20 over the limit. What's the sense in going out and losing your license or killing someone.

I think it's the most fun when someone else steps up and intimidates for a race and then you hand them their ***. Especially when they're a good sport about it. I was been beat 2x in my STi. Porsche 996TT (had 2 car lengths up to 110kph) and a buick t-type. My mazda once by a GTP. That was on my way home having returned a borrowed MBC

if you don't have actual slicks/racing tires, then there is absolutely no point in a burnout to warm up your tires. the compound is just way too hard.

A good launch involves little tire spin, but not slow enough to bog out(this is espcially important in a trubo car)

I feels faster when I pop the clutch add redline, but I know this is not true.
