Car Dolly/Trailer

Well I was thinking about picking up a car dolly/trailer for when I find a decent shell I can snatch it up. How much should I be looking to fork over for a decent one?

4-500 bucks for a used one. sometimes they are more. I got one as a gift for graduating High school, my dad said. "I have a feeling you will be needing this more than me" hahah, I love it, just dont tell your friends you have it because everyone will want to borrow it, and everyone will call you when their peice of ---- is on the side of the road. :y

I know the dollies are about $35 rented from Penske. So if they are $500 for a dolly I would just rent one. A trailer would be a different story. Could use it for multiple things besides just cars.

One of the better deals I have seen is 800 for a tandem aluminum trailer.

Dude, get a truck that has a heavy duty, STURDY rear bumper, a front wheel dollie, a come along, and some towe straps...You will make your money back in NO TIME...We work with a guy that goes and picks ppl's stuff up all the time, he makes a killin' on the side...I don't know HOW MANY TIMES I've scratched my head and said DAMN, I wish I had a towe dollie...

tow dollies are teh gay. save and get a nice trailer or go to the junkyard and weld one up yourself.

Re: Car Dolly/Trailer

lol, they are not gay at all. I can load a car non running in about 2 mins by myself. Good luck doing that with your flatbed trailer. Not to mention they dont waste space in your yard. As long as you dont have to back up at all your fine.

I had to back up quite a few times the day Tim and I picked up his Integra from pittsburgh and my Civic from Indiana PA and it wasn't terrible... dolly's ftw

I would rather have a flatbed, only because I have needed/wanted one so many times in the past. Plus, I drive an SUV and dirtbikes don't fit in the back of them. :1

Its also illegal to use a dolly with a car that is not registered because the vehicle touches public roads.

Most cops aren't that big of assholes, at least not here.

I towed an unregistered car for over 5 hours with no issues.

No ---- right. The dolly I use never had a plate for as long as I've known of its existance (at least 5-7 years)... never once tried to plug in the taillight wires (my excuse was it would probably just blow out my brake light fuse so i'd have no lights) and most of the cars I tow don't even have a title. Just gotta smooth talk the scrap yard guy and he'll still give you cash for em. The only time I was scared was when I tried to tow a caprice classic with only 3 wheels, fucker made my ------- pucker the whole ride.

Bottom line: Dolly's kick ass, if someone you know has a junk car they want to dissappear from their yard it's like free money.
