Car cranks but wont start.... after fire. *pics*!!

I've been working on putting a turbo on my 240... (KA don't worry) and I'm almost done.... I was a lazy bitch and tried to put the oil return on the pan when it was still on the car... bad idea. After grinding, welding, jb welding, and still having a huge oil leak, i realized i needed to take the pan off. To lay a better bead, i towed the car to my school auto shop.. good welders there as opposed to fluxcore. but that didn't work either, but i needed to get the car home somehow. because my safc settings were screwed up- i think -, the car limped the 2 miles from school to my house. Right before getting home the car died and there was smoke coming out of the hood... ----.... I popped the hood and half the hood was on fire. It turns out the o2 sensor was too high up and it caught it. A kind passerby fire extinguishered my car, but another person still felt the need to call the fire dept. When it was all said and done, my hood insulation was burnt off but not really any engine burn problems, i dont think. no wires or anything got burned. The problem is that the reason i stopped and saw the fire was because the car died. I've changed the oil pan with one that doesn't leak, but now my car won't start! it has spark, and it is turning over... and occasionally it sounds like it's gonna catch, but it doesn't. I'm stumped at what could be the problem? The one idea I had was that it was running too rich and fucked the spark plugs... but idk. Any ideas?

your car caught fire, even if it turns over and you have spark, you have to check every single wire, every single vacuum line, every single hose, everything.

You might have one sensor that got burnt, or one wire that got burned and it is preventing the car from going. This ---- aint easy. Take it easy and triple check everything.

gas-spark-power, then check sensors.

sucks for you, but let this be an example to everyone else, don't cut corners on things that are neccesary, do it right the first time

would the o2 sensor wire being screwed up do it? that was the closest one to the fire.

mm. quite.

It could do it, anything that got burned could be causing a short in the electrical system and your ECU might be preventing it from starting.

Check the wires good.

I don't see how an 02 sensor would make the car not start at all. Just a check engine light maybe. Does the car turn "ON"? Any CELs?

pic of where the o2 was so we know where not to put it

"on" like accessories? ya. It's dark here so tomorrow morning i'll check all the wires twice and get back to you guys.

I have a topmount mani and a 3" dp. i put it right where the dp starts to bend, it was basically touching, just kinda forgot it gets hot :1

If it is causing a short in the car, it might be affecting the electrical system. If it was just bad, then yeah it could start with a CEL, but having fried wires touching could cause a bigger problem and a future fire.
Check one of Jeff's Abaz old setups on a CRX, the two battery poles touched the hood and started a fire, it's a similar idea, but on a smaller scale.

alright, i got impatient and took another long look at it..... turns out 3 plug wires were grounding out because they had burn holes in them. so I fixed that and cranked it over.... still no luck....

I have spark at the coil and at at least plug 1 and 3.
I have fuel at least into the rail.
I have a signal going to at least one injector
I have 13 volts at the battery
looked for melted wires and didn't see any

What else should i look for?!!!?!?!?!
It just cranks and cranks and doesn't even catch anymore, just turns over.

sensors and vac lines. take your afc ---- out, those are junk and they screw themselfs over see if it starts with out it.

Re: Car cranks but wont start.... after fire. *pics*!!

The starting problem could also be caused by:
1. Blown fuse(s).
2. Damaged ignition control module.
3. Damaged coil primary and/or seconday circuit(s).

First check to see if there is a blown fuse. If there is none, use a Ohm meter and check the distributor and coil circuitry.

God damn it.

Ok, firemenz aren't ghetto, so something called a homemadeturbo would be funny to them. If you told them the car caught fire because of your home made turbo, they'd probably die laughing, and then want to know which hidden camera show they were on. (It helps that you're taking pictures of them too) :P

I guess you'd have to think like a white man to get my jokes. >:D

most likely you melted some wires or a wire on the harness. If you melted the spark plug wires its safe to say some part of the electrical system is toat as well. Just work your way down the harness looking for signs of damage, it will probobly take you a while but its your best bet. Why did you tow the whole car into your autoshop in the first place, why not just bring in the pan?!?!?

you said he getting sparks, so why not pulled the spark plugs and changed them, they might be fouled
