Power, ground, starter signal or main relay/etc interrupt. Drill some holes to mount it on the dash so everyone knows they are a real booze hound.

Is there anything to keep a person from tampering with it? Or is it like an ankle braclet, if tampered a signal is sent to who ever is concerned?

5 wires if you count grounds, throw a little metallic sticker seal over the clips used to install shows if they were fucked with.

Pretty sure it's just a starter kill relay with a glorified volt meter. Maybe if the box sees battery voltage on the starter it gets pissy, but more than likely it doesn't care about that and watches for power to jump from battery 12 to alternator 14 without it being consulted first.

If you get into this line of work, expect most of your clientel to be the medium to hardcore alcoholic type that are furious at the fact they have to pay you such a rediculous sum of money for 15 minutes of work once a month, while ignoring the fact you are simply doing a job and the gov't smacked them for ------- up not you.

and they don't send signals to anything if fucked with, they just datalog information about number of starts, times of starts, bac, fails, etc. Then you hook up to a pc once a month or every other month and download it all and report it to the dmv.

Most also attach to the 4 ways and the horn. As you drive you need to update the test or the lights and horn go richter. So there might be a bit more to the install but its about online with a remote start. On the plus side, you don't have to do the cleanest install. Get paid good for it, they charge up the *** and its a requirement.

the number one company that makes these ******* doesn't touch the 4 ways or horn. legally they can't ---- with you while you're driving, only not let your car start if you fail or igore a test. You can pop start your car and drive around all day with it, I did it before when mine fucked up (yeah I used to be a fuckup back in the day if it wasn't already obvious)

But you're right they're not always pie. If you do get someone as a client that isn't driving some older beater they can afford to trash regularly on weekend binges (95% of rides I saw waiting in line for service) the newer cars may require some trickery to keep anti-theft systems happy.

There a pain in the *** to get working i can tell you that. We've had to work on a couple cars with those in them and my boss tried for a half hour to get it started, then gave up and told me to get it going. 20mins of trial and error i had the bitch running. Pretty rediculious though.
