Default Canadians and USPS

Got a question for you Canadians out there and people that deal with them.

This is regarding shipping to Canada via USPS and duty fees. So if I ship a package to Canada, no matter what value I put on it there will be no duty fees?

I have something to ship to Canada with a value of 500, I want insurance on it, since well it's USPS. But if there's gonna be a large duty fee I don't want him to have to pay it.

Lemme know guys.

just something told me once

i usualy ask ppl to ship things out as a gift
if its UPS then they charage a massive holding fee.

I just had about 90 pounds of parts sent to me from texas to ontario and got bent over for 300 bucks in god knows---------what fees. It was shipped 4-6 days (150 bucks american) and customs held it for like an extra week. Still cheaper then ups though that ---- would have cost me acout 900 at my door. *****.
