Can I paint my valve cover with car paint?

Can I or will it get to hot and make it peel all up. I can spray it with a paint adheasive that will help, but not sure. I can get it powdercoated for $10 locally, but it's not the same color blue.

I think I am going to try and paint my valve cover with it still on the car. I have been talking about painting my valve cover for a few months though so that just shows you how lazy I am.

Yeah I painted mine with auto paint also (actually it needs to be re-sprayed). But make sure you get the cover real clean and free of any dirt and oil or else the paint won't stick and can bubble or crackle and other wierd shyt ;)

the valve cover gets hot, but not real bad.
bbka: just take it off, it takes about 5 seconds and then you can get it real clean and do it nice

Id go with the high temp stuff, but if you have to the car paint will work... Just clean the valve cover and hot tank it

Re:Can I paint my valve cover with car paint?

what is hot tank it mean. I'll probaly get some aircract remover crap from autozone, to get all the back crap off, then shove it in the wire wheel for a few mins, then wax and grease remover, then spray some aluminum adheasive paint on their and spray it. if it doesn't work, im not out of a loss, I already have a bunch of paint left over from painting my car last month.

Re:Can I paint my valve cover with car paint?

Yeah, any paint will work. I have never had a problem with the stuff not sticking. If you have a B16 and want it to look like a type-r, spray it with real light coats of flat red over the black crackle stuff. If you don't do real light coats it won't look like crackle paint anymore. What I mean as real light coats is when you spray it on it should look like little speckels all over. Red dots is all you should see. Wait for it to dry then do it again until it is covered. Just make sure it is real clean first. You don't need a primer or adheisive promoter
