Can a head warp by not being bolted down to the block?

Someone was telling me that a head their friend had, warped after he had it sitting on the counter or whatever for about a week. Is there any truth behind this? Can this happen? I plan to pull my head off monday, but if it is going to some how warp by sitting apart from the block, I dont want to.

no that some crazy bullshit. it might have been warped when he took it off and then he couldent get it to seal right. but it didint warp after sitting for a week. unless he lives somewhere thats like 900º outside.

yea, I thought it could only warp if it was overheated. So, will it be ok to have the head sit in my 'shop' in a carboard box on teh floor for a couple months? I am slowly going to be doing work to it.

It probably warped because he didnt tighten it down right.
