CAMshaft selection post up your experiences.

OK Iv been working my ass off so i can build my motor. I just want some input on the 59500 cam i know it says competition only but I can deal with solid motor mounts and a 6 puck unsprung all day so . I basically want to find out how bad its gonna be.

It might just be me, but I've never had the desire to spend money on a cam. I can't really even say I've driven a car with a different cam, but more boost usually makes me forget.

Well, the head i got for free needs to be rebuilt so i figured to opp to put a cam and springs in. I just want to know if it gonna be too much for a car that going to be driven on the street.

I just don't think that sounds like such a rowdy cam, but what do i know. :1

Re: CAMshaft selection post up your experiences.

it all depends on the rest of your setup, the cam can make or break it. Ive seen guys run NA cams in a boosted setup and it seems to work okay esp if you have a large turbo.

Lol the web cam I had in my old A20 made the maddd vtacchhhh crossover sound once you went past 5500rpm, but we thought it was mostly due to valve float. ;D

Hold out for the 59800, it'll be worth the wait.

Man ain't that the truth! I emailed him a couple years ago about his F-series to d-series trans adapter plate and clutch setup, let's just say a complete type-r swap would've ran the same price back then. :P

649 I take it back. I still have thoughts of dumping in a h22 in my 86 crx and running all the 1st gen teg parts with his plate.

The previous build was a low 10 second D15 powered CRX, which is why he's God to NA D-series.

and his prices show it.
I thought na cams have overlap and thats bad for a turbo setup?

Tom-Guy 07-15-2007 06:15 PM

Re: CAMshaft selection post up your experiences.

Only if the turbine is too small. Turbo cars have the same pressure differential as NA cars, its blowers that are different.

Enlighten me on the cam/blower thing, friend of mine has 2 Eaton M90's sitting in the garage, I want to use one on something...

Think about intake vs exhaust pressure for each of the setups.

Intake will be much higher on blower setup?

Which means you need less overlap to clear out the chamber?

Re: CAMshaft selection post up your experiences.

so, since i am using a turbo that is a little large for a d series some overlap would be a good thing?
