Camcorder/computer playback help...

I just got a new camcorder JVC D90...not exactly big time new, but I need a camcorder and this was really nicely priced. anyways I'm looking for a way(if possible) that will allow me to playback video onto my computer? with this camcorder you use S-video or a/v cable(RCA cables) for play back, but the manual only shows how to do that on a VCR and TV. now my laptop has a S-video port on it, but I'm not sure if its an "in" or "out"(or does it matter)?? someone else suggested I could use this which works thorugh the USB and basically records---> http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=VS-TVUSB2800R

any other suggestions or will this not even work??

cliffnotes: I want to replay(and even record) video off my camcorder on my laptop...and be cool like everyone else and post vids :P

Your s-video port is an output, you can't connect the camera to it. Since you are using a laptop, you will want to get an external usb video capture device. I just bought one on ebay for my dad, works great. Here's a link to the same model I bought, but I got it cheaper from someone else:
