Re: CAM Spec help?
duration is how long the valve stays open. overlap is when the intake and exhaust valves are just barely open at the same time. doesnt happen on single cams but can be benificial on dohc's.

Iv been reading up and all i can find on honda cams is which ones to buy and not specs. Im a noob at this kind of ---- ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET SOME A6 SPRINGS FOR CHEAP? ;D |
Re: CAM Spec help?
I guess im not alone with this kind of ----. ???

Re: CAM Spec help?
Dunno if it is somehow different on Honda's, but I'm pretty sure overlap happens on all motors...
I assume it's a regrind since it is from Delta, but for a turbo camshaft, might want a bit more reverse split on the duration. Reverse split means more exhaust duration than intake duration. Haven't found anything concrete on what a good turbo camshaft is (tons of opinions from different manufacturers and engine builders), but that seems to be the general consensus. Hope that helps a bit. HMT could do with a good write up on valve events and camshaft specs. |
Re: CAM Spec help?
Yea its a regrind from delta
i got my cam in the mail today and the duration and lift seemed a little low to me but im used to v8 cams. Plus i wanted to know what all the other ---- meant. OOO and its the 292 regrind which is there most rowdy cam for the a6 looking at the dam thing you can just tell the difference. |
Re: CAM Spec help?
Haha yeah, big difference between the camshafts for performance V8s and I4s. Probably more used to seeing something along the lines of 232/238 .588/.611" on a V8. A lot of those extra numbers on the cam card are just valve event stuff, lots of detailed info about the cam.

Re: CAM Spec help?
i've been to delta and gotten their regrind. its a kick in the ass if you got the "best grind for a turbo" cam and have a turbo on your car.

4 Attachment(s)
A) Delta doesn't do Honda regrinds
B) that spec sheet is NOT for a SOHC motor. The RAR numbers are a dead giveaway. The column of numbers I fully understand........ Attachment 23822 Attachment 23823 Attachment 23824 Attachment 23825 |
