California Tries Spam Ban
again this is from www.slashdot.org
"Spammers have likely received their biggest setback yet, when California governor Gray Davis today signed a bill outlawing all unsolicited email sent to and from the state. Two things about this new law stand out: first, it puts the burden on senders to prove that they are sending solicited email. Second, it bans the entire practice of spamming, with no loopholes at all like allowing messages with ADV: in the subject. Keep in mind California has the world's fifth largest economy, and they are planning to enforce the law with fines amounting to $1000 per each piece of spam. This law could be ruinous to spammers when it takes effect January 1st." again here is hte NY tiems link on the story: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/09/23/bu...D-SPAM.html?hp and here is the law: http://info.sen.ca.gov/pub/bill/sen/..._enrolled.html Bout damn time. |
Re:California Tries Spam Ban
Sounds good at first but the over all idea of leting the goverment decide what I can and can't do on my computer bothers me. Besides its Gray Davis it has to be a bad idea. I see this one in the supreme court before its over.

I get about the same amount of spam. It pisses me off soooo bad. I use the stupid ass "unsubscribe" link and it still doesn't remove me. Most of them don't even work. I even get spam that includes nothing. The links are no good and they are advertising nothing. ------- idiots. >:(
