it will go up. i was talking to my grandfather about it because ive been loKOing into buying stock and he told me years ago one of the car companys was tanking and they got ome kind of federal loan or something and thier stocks went up 3 or 4 times the price shortly after.
it will def go up if they get bailed.
GM isnt any better of a choice then ford. you fail to forget a majority of state/govt vehices are fords, when was the last time you saw a police dept that didnt use crown vics as thier primary vehicles? their truck market it also pretty huge.

That's mostly an east coast thing. I've never seen so many crown vics and Lincolns in my life than when I was on the east coast. Police and government around here use dodge/gm.

For every 1 GM employee that looses their job (if they were to close) 10 people in North American industry (that are touched by GM) would lose their job. Hence the US Gov't won't let it happen. the # on that comes from Bloomberg and substantiated by a few other sources.
bankruptcy has been discussed and won't happen. It would put too much of a dent in consumers perception of the product. Where airlines can get away with it because they sell a short term intangible product, GM can't.
Another reason is new direction. Typically when a corp. is bailed out they need to offer up a symbol of change, in most cases that symbol is the resignation of a CEO (wagoner). This would be a good thing since while GM's stock has plumited the occurence of this has been while the company was under the direction of wagoner. A new CEO (gov't appointed) would no doubt cause a surge in the stock by investors who feel the change is a positive direction for the company.
While GM is currently in the crapper, they are hitting their financial goals of cost cutting (as reported by North American VP this week)
a bailout would also cause a jump int he stock as it would help illustrate to the public a positive direction for GM. GM has stated that they will continue with their product line as planned.
As for ford, since they made cuts and direction changes a few years ago they are in better shape then GM ,b ut still feeling the crunch. I don't think they have the product right now to see any massive financial gains. They are probably more solid long term , but the opportunity for rapid financial strength and change isn't as apparent as it is with GM.

Cops have always driven Fords out here in AZ. FD drives large Chevy trucks for no apparent reason and most city workers drive large 4WD Chevy trucks around just to look cool I guess? I don't see why they need such large 4WD trucks to drive around town with?
Last time the police bought new vehicles they found a waaaaaay better deal out of town(Phoenix) which fucked the local dealer out of alot of money anf the **** sucking ****** had the nerve to cry that the city was buying cars for cheaper out of town instead of buying from him and getting RAAAAAAAAAAPED in the *** with a rusty fork.
He even whined about it in the local newspaper about how the city should be buying from him, even though his prices are outrageous because it keeps the money in the city. :1
