nForce4 > nForce3
PCIe > AGP & PCI
Atleast for the future.

Re: Building a new computer, need some HMT geek advice.
Thanks for the replies. As far as what I already have and budget, Im reusing the old case, PS, mouse, pretty much everything. Im going to use my two older HD's for storage (120g+160g), and want to find a new one with an emphasis on speed. Overall, my budget is around 700 for MB, CPU, mem, HD and video card. The HD can wait though.
The dual channel mem access is what swayed me to the 64, didnt know the XP could do it with the right MB though. In the long run, I want a machine that has tons of, and very fast mem access. My main use will be video editing.
The reason why I asked if 2 512 sticks would be better than one 1g stick, is I got the impression that there would be faster mem access. Does it even matter?
Oh, and what the diff. between the venice and winchester core?

Re: Building a new computer, need some HMT geek advice.
venice is newer, has a faster memory controller and from what i've heard you dont have to have two IDENTICLE DIMMs to run dual channel...
Video editting.. hrmm. might wanna look at benchmarks on p4's.. maybe even got Pentium M on an assu p4p800se.
here's what i've come up w/ not including the HDD. Of course there are places u can save.. like the cpu can save around $140 going to a 3000+ venice.

Here's another with a little slower cpu, different ram (should perform almost the same), but with a HDD.
