building the D's

I don't know how many other people realize how expensive it is to buy and then build a B series motor these days. But I do not make enough money to be able to spend the 3,000 to get a new motor and then another 1500 to build it, and then another 1,500-3,000 to turbo it. So I am going to work with what I got. I have a '92 Vx hatch. But I am beginning to think the D15Z1 motor is a One-off type of thing. I mean its got the stroke of a D15 with the rods of a D16 (good for rod-to-stroke ratio) and then the pistons have a -7mm dome to make the compression 9.3:1? No one anywhere makes pistons for this motor. So I am going to have to get them custom made. But I don't know how to calculate the head volume. If anyone is planning to build a D series I can tell you where to go to get your parts for really good prices. and if anyone knows how to get the head volume please help.

i would go with a d16z6 (sohc vtec) man... they're only $250-350 and it's so many people giving away parts (especially pistons/rods)... will be way cheaper in the long run
