brought home my first hatchback today!
Well I found a 90 dx for sale locally for $400 and picked it up today. it came with the stock dx tranny and a newer dx motor. Im not sure if its obd1 or 2. The guy I bought it from said it has the obd0 dizzy, alternator and intake manifold. So it should be pretty simple to drop in. THis is going to be my beater so my crx doesnt have to be my daily driver anymore.

Re: brought home my first hatchback today!
thats whats up.its almost as ugly as mines was when i first brought ;D. i payed $250 and it had a blown motor and was ugly as ----.but in 2 months i spent over 2,000 and got it looking good but still needs a paint job.some people ask me why I spent all that money but the reality is that i changed almost every part on the car including motor (i did all the work myself).
d16z6 motor swap from a 95 civic coupe tenzo r light weight rims (black with a red lip 15") brand new tires also poly urethane mugen bodykit tenzo r lowering springs black housing halo headlamps-black tail lamps and black front corners exhaust and civic type r carpets front and back when I did the swap I replaced axels timing belt all gaskets oil rotor and cap spark plugs n wires etc. the car is silver up top and the bodykit is black all the way around but i plan to paint the whole car black.the car rides great.isnt real bumpy like my teg.the best thing is that it fill up with $20.00 when its empty and the gas here is 2.16 for regular and i get about 230-250 miles.I dont turbo cause its auto and besides this car is also my beater.yeah this is a long ass post but I like my hatch and with all this ---- done it should last another 20 years ;D |
Re: brought home my first hatchback today!
Aaron, I know you wanna make that sticker say "I love my beater". >:D
I'm thinking that sensor is a crank angle sensor? ??? Anyway, can we make the crx a race car yet? |
Re: brought home my first hatchback today!
looks to be a d16y7 out of the 96+ dx/lx . i think the sensor is the crank fluctuation sensor. you dont need it ;)

Re: brought home my first hatchback today!
Well I pulled off the upper timing belt cover today and saw that the inner timing belt cover was completely melted! I put a socket on the crank pully to turn it over and the timing belt snapped before 1 full turn. So I cleaned up all the melted plastic and used an old y8 timing belt and put it back together and did a compression test wich yealded 150's across the board. So I stuck that bitch in and put the old dx intake on. Now Im only missing 1 sensor which screws into the head, a front motor mount and I need to wire up the coolent sensor. The 0bd2 dx block has a big plug in place of where the coolent temp sensor usually is on obd0 cars. I believe the obd2 sensor is on the thermostat housing, correct me if im wrong. So I hope this motor works out, with the severe overheating and all. I guess Ill see tuesday when Ill finish it up.
Yes stealth, now we can make the crx a race car. :) |
