broken radius arms

like the topic says i keep breakin radius arms.i have a 91 hf with a d16a6 in it,ever since we done the swap i keep breakin radius arms.i was wondering if anyone can tell me why or how to fix it!!!!! i also have tried the urathane mounts in it and they still keep breaking...any help will be greatful...i think i might just go ahead and put traction bars on it...tired of spending 60.00 a pop for radius arms

Re: broken radius arms

are they not warrented?

Re: broken radius arms

no they dont have warrenty on them.....it keeps ripping the threads off the arm and the nut!!! need advice on a good traction bar setup.i may just get my uncle to make me a set.

Re: broken radius arms

make sure your not crossthreading that nut on the shaft, its real easy to do

Re: broken radius arms

if you're breaking them and getting that much movement, maybe there is something else wrong.

Re: broken radius arms

wtf.... ur ---- is messed up. No way you should be tearing off the threads on the radius rods. Pretty much impossible to create that much force w/ a well working suspension etc.

Re: broken radius arms

i think something is binding and when your supsension compresses it pulls forward on the radius arms and rips the threads out. or you just didn't have them tight in the first place and that constant snapping back and forth is wrecking them.

they are set at factory torque specs.what could be binding to cause this to happen..just need some info.

Re: broken radius arms

I have no idea.... and 'factory torque specs' mean nothing, tighten those mother fuckers up so that they completely compress the bushings.

Re: broken radius arms

i have tighten them until it has compressed the bushing.if i tighten it to much it will strip the nut.im just tired of breaken them.anyone have a decent pic of traction bars so i can give it to my uncle so he can see what he needs to get...

Re: broken radius arms

could anyone reccomend a good company that sells traction bars. ;D i need some help as soon as possible!!!!

Re: broken radius arms

if the lower control arm is loose where it bolts into the frame, it could move in a way that might tear out the threads.. just go over the whole suspension and make sure there isn't anything loose or bent.

boostedhf 06-29-2005 03:53 PM

Re: broken radius arms

thanks,i will check it to see if the control arm is loose.

SEARCH. Many guys make their own Traction Bars one here. I used to make and sell them, but I'm too busy right now.

Re: broken radius arms

problem found ;D the bolt for the control arm was loose.tightened it up so now maybe the problem will be solved.but i think im still going to put traction bars on it.....thanks for all the info......
