Breaking in my 1st motor?
Hey what's up? My question is what is the best way to break in my first motor, i rebuilt my first motor and i don't know how to get the piston rings to seat properly. I would just like to see how you guys break in your motors and what works the best and most effincent.
This motor is my daily driver and night time street racer, i have CAI, H, Full 2.5inch Exhaust, Full MSD Ignition and milled head(.20 thounsands). Any help is greatly appericated. Thanks. -InfernoSoul |

Oh and what 'oil' and 'plugs' do suggest i use for breakin? Also the first run should i change the oil in 20 mins, next in 500 miles, ect? Could you guys give me breakin procedure like that so i know what to do step by step. I'm a newbie at this so any help would be appericated. Thanks again.

Re:Breaking in my 1st motor?
Wow, you got a tranny to bolt to that thing eh?...
well what I do on break in's, is no revs above 5000, and replace the oil at 500, then at 1000miles your good to rape her all you want.. ok... I cant lie, I dont break in motors :P I just break them |
Re:Breaking in my 1st motor?
There was a thread about this a week or two ago. It had some guys crazy way of breaking in motors. He was saying to basically beat the ---- out of it like you normally would, just in a more controlled manor. Do a search for it.
---- it, I found it. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...;threadid=5587 __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |

i don't know how to break in a real motor, but i race 1/8th scale on road gas cars and to break our motors in we run them really rich and rev the piss out of them for the first couple tanks of gas. don't know if you can do this with a honda motor but it works great on the r/c car motors! :)

Re:Breaking in my 1st motor?
Yeah Jeff, i got that tranny on! ;D The starter bolt was about 2 inches off so i drilled and tapped my own and used a head bolt. I had to grind inside the tranny because it was stopping the starter from extending far enough to check the flywheel. All the motor mount bolted up except the left mount. I had to rip off the carrige where the mount sides slide it down about 5 inches and reweld it. It looks bad but works thats all that matters. I'll take some pics tomorrow and post'em within the next couple of days to show ya. I knew get it to work. heheh.

Re:Breaking in my 1st motor?
yeah, they are the .21 sized motors. well it wasn't my idea to break them in that way. i have always done it the way that you stated. i've been playing around with gas r/c cars for about 15 years now and i've been sponsored for almost 4 years. the team mechanic is the one that said this was the best way to do it. because think about it, if you break it in real slow, all the parts are gonna be used to reving low. when you rev them high the parts stretch a little and there is more real life stress on the motor. the first one i did this way was the fastet motor i've ever run! just a little fyi. i guess everyone does it differnt.
