Re:Brakes
Are you being a ----- with the hammer? Did you remember to take the little screws out? I've never had a problem taking a rotor off, but then again I live in AZ where rust doesn't happen. :P

Re:Brakes
hit it with a torch. You can pick up the cheap ones for 12 bucks at lowes, etc.

Re:Brakes
would using a torch be risky?..he needs it done tomorrow

Re:Brakes
i cant find a link to a real press, basically its a ram that puts thousands of pounds of force on a specific area, any decent shop should have one

Re:Brakes
did u forgot to take the little screws out?.
did u try to tighten bolts into the two threaded holes to pull it out? |
Re:Brakes
there should be a little threaded section on the rotor, you normally put the correct size bolt in there and start tightening it, this will force the rotor to come off.
Most cars are like this. Dont heat anything up with a torch, jesus christ |

But Just take your time, and make sure there are no obstructions preventing it from coming loose. So look for little pins or screws. And spray on some WD-40, I like me some WD-40 8) Julio had some stuff that was amazing, it was called bust-a-nut, don't know where he got it from, but that thing worked. After you get the rotor off WITHOUT fire, then gather up some nieghborhood cats and light them on fire ;D |
Re:Brakes
Ya, Juilo probably cans his "Bust-a-Nut" himself.. :-X
I use Zep 45, best lubricant I have ever used. I dont think once in my lifetime I ever used a torch on a brake rotor |
Re:Brakes
you did remember to remove the little screws with the alan wrench right? i believe it is on the top back of the hub they are a bitch to get out. i just did my brakes and i must say it sucked but then again maybe they changed it in the newer cars my golf is an 86 so yeah.
