Brake cable issue

Earlier this week it was 55* out. It then dropped to 10* and snowed like hell and is blowing also. The temp drop caused some freezing in one of my e-brake cables.

It will just cause the one rear brake to drag on pavement, but on the snow it will lock the wheel up and slide the rear end out. Even though it is fun when planned for, it gets a little dangerous and annoying because I can't drive it.

I need to get it running by Friday, today is Wednesday.

How does the e-brake cable connect to the rear brake? I know I could just cut it, but I am hoping that I can just un-hook it until I can address the issue in more hospitable weather. I am sans repair manual. 94 Honda Civic EX.

well I finally found a working link to a manual. This should not be too hard so long as the drum is cooperative in coming off.

Its probably just water that got trapped in there from the rain, and now this gay ass cold froze it. cleaning it out is pretty easy. Good luck taking it off, and get all that salt off of it too that just got put out.

EX's didn't come with rear discs? If it's drums, sometimes they like to stick a little. Should be able to pop the drum off and see the cable and if it's sticking.

yea you cna prob.ly clean the drum brake assemb. witb brake cleaner then grease up the moving spots.
its prob.ly not the cable coz its fully consealed unless the plastic tube is broken. to disconnect it just un-hook it by the shoes.

Yeah I just rolled it into my friends garage to thaw it out. Everything was kosher after that. I will just rock it without using the handbrake until it warms up in a couple days. I don't park on any major hills or anything.

That's alot easier than my ----. Purple power has a major leak when it rains and it makes the floor wet as ass. Drove it around a couple days watching the puddle move around the floor around corners. Today it's freezing, and I went to the gas station and the trunk and gas door cables are frozen. No gas allowed. Luckily I pulled the trunk one hard enough to get it stuck open. Fucken beater.
